Rudy is really nice. I met all 4 of Quiet Riot on their last album tour, Quiet Riot, Rehab. Got the CD a picture of all of them and a mirror that had the band on it signed. They asked if I made the mirror, no, I won it throwing darts at our county fair. All 4 were very nice. Rudy,Kevin, Frankie and Carlos.

That's awesome Mark. I've seen the original Quiet Riot but never got to meet them. I'm an acquaintance of Carlo's brother Tony from Hurricane when I lived in California. He is also a really cool dude. Love Rudy and his playing. I also won a mirror at the DuPage, Illinois county fair in 1979. Still have it. It's Van Halen. Unfortunately, I'll never be able to get it signed. Cool story and take it easy.

Rudy has been around the block for the past 40+ years wasn't an accident. it wasn't luck. Rudy has a few things going for him that makes him a great choice to be in a band: he knows his instrument very well, he knows when to party and when NOT to party, he gives 100% effort every time he goes on stage, he's never gone on stage drunk or high, and he is reasonable when it comes to compensation.

I had the fortunate opportunity to meet Rudy Sarzo a few years back and my respect for him grew even more than it was. He was such a cool dude. After seeing him live with Dio and Whitesnake, I can comfortably say that he is truly is a great bassist.

it is a great happiness to hear the voice of Rudy Sarzo. This musician knew and was friends with Randy Rhoads himself. It is amazing. and now he shares with us these stories about life in rock music. He is a legend of that era of the 70s and 80s, when we were young together and listened to their music, real rock and roll. He knew Kevin DuBrow, he played with the very first lineup of Quiet Riot, and was a successor in Quiet Riot since 1983. Emotions over the edge. Although I learned about such a bassist of rock music 🎶 as Rudy Sarzo only in 2010, when I saw his performance on video with DIO. God bless him for many years to come and all our idols of the Rock scene, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards and many others.

Rudy is one hell of a soldier. It IS crazy that he didn't record a single one of the records most associated with him. You would know better than I, but that sure is one hell of an anomaly. Figuring out why he got the tap to tour those records is no great mystery. He had the look and he could play really well. I would imagine also that he had a reputation as a reliable road dog that wasn't going to sabotage any chemistry or fail a gig by getting blasted beforehand. Speak is my favorite Ozzy record because of what Tommy and Rudy did in terms of interpreting the old Sabbath tunes. This girl I knew when I was 15 gave me her cassette of that album which happened to coincide with the time that my development as a player was beginning to move past common rock concepts. And I remember just being blown away by "The Wizard" and thinking "how does he compose and perform a drum part like that"?!?!? It was just alien to me at the time. But it sure as hell made me buckle down and go to the woodshed every.fvcking.day. after school until a combination of lessons from a Berklee grad, various drum clinics, and sheer determination to kick some ass finally cracked the code.

Rudy Sarzo always struck me as the ultimate hired gun hero. I remember the 1st time I ever saw or heard of him was in the tour book for the Blizzard of Oz show when I saw them in Chicago as a kid. Me and my brothers were like "Who's this dude?" , the Diary LP wasn't out yet and we were expecting Bob Daisley and Lee Kerslake. It was also the first time we ever heard Believer with the classic bass intro. Man those were great days for music!

Saw Rudy with Ozzy 3 times. Twice with Randy. Once with Brad. The girl I was with at the time was totally in love with Rudy. Speak of the Devil is ok - the production was very shallow - haven't heard it in 30 years. I was way more into Live at Last which came out about a year before. Merry Christmas, Doctor

Rudy Sarzo was never a songwriter, he was just a strait laced, hired gun, role playing showbiz entertainer, who was tailor made for the stage, who had Randy’s stamp of approval. Rudy was a sober guy to slap a red spandex leotard onto, who had a look & could play others compositions, adequately enough in a live concert settings. They say image is everything, & yet Rudy was lost as a composer & struggled mightily in the studio settings. It’s far easier to play a masterpiece, then it was to create it, as Sharon figured out, because Rudy wasn’t going to record Ozzy’s 3rd album with Randy, as they had planned on bringing Bob Daisley back in, when the tour concluded, to assist Randy with song writing on Bark at the Moon, which was scheduled to happen until Randy got killed. Most casual Ozzy fans still assume that Rudy & Tommy wrote Blizzard & Diary, with Randy Rhoads, due to the album’s pictures, & the same with Ozzy’s Tribute album, when Bob Daisley & Lee Kerslake composed all those songs with Randy. Even on Ozzy’s Speak of the Devil album, Rudy was playing Geezer Butler’s bass parts in a live concert setting. Quiet Riot, Ozzy, Quiet Riot again, Blue Oyster Cult, Guess Who, White Snake, Malmseen, Dio all utilized Rudy as a bassist in videos & on live tours, & didn’t allow him any inputs in the songwriting department, & then sent Rudy on his way after the tours, nobody ever seemed to really need Rudy around for all that long, as he made his way all around the touring circuit. There is an awkward video of Quiet Riot’s band members all seated behind a barricade, at a table at a fan meet & greet autograph signing event, where the bass player Chuck Wright struggles & fails to convince a fan, who didn’t really want Chuck signing his Metal Health CD at all, as Chuck was largely unable to explain, that he really was the guy, while the fan kept saying, how it sucked how they didn’t let Chuck play on the album, as Chuck protested to this confused fan, how he did indeed play Bass on the album, yet the fan just wouldn’t hear any of it, & just ended up allowing Chuck to sign this album to break the weird tension. & In the end the fan was still like, it sucks that your not on the album though, as Chuck was pointing out the albums linear notes, & the fan ignored everything that Chuck was saying, & no doubt walked away upset that Chuck had desecrated his treasured album, where Rudy’s image had been depicted on the albums fold out sleeve…😖

I’ve always said he was a fortune teller. Nobody thought going back to a struggling QR WITH NO RANDY was smart. NO bass players ever mention him as an influence. If there was ever a deal with the devil it was with Rudy. Every move he made was brilliant. Milked QR then jumped to Whitesnake for 87 to let Chuck back in. 😂. Rudy was ruthless. Every time a smaller band blew up Rudy was on the album cover with no writing credits 😂.
