The entire sequence around Demon King Badigadi was unfortunately, censored and rushed. They skipped a line from Badigadi after Rudeus told him about Orsted, along the lines of: "Tell me boy, when you fought Dragon God Orsted, did you manage to wound him?" "Umn... I managed to scrape some of the skin off the back of his hand?" "Well, then I have a proposal..." Demon King Badigadi showing up was a VERY big deal, and there was an entire sequence where the students were panicking and essentially rallying all the heavy hitters in the area for a 'hope' of driving him away worse comes to worst. Rudeus's entire thought process was kinda to stall him long enough until the king-class mages and teachers could get down there. He was just as surprised as anyone when the stone cannon completely gibbed and splattered Badigadi's upper body, instead of knocking him off his feet as was shown here.

Yup, and is even worse because in the anime, badigadi says "hit me with your strongest spell" but in the novel he says "hit me with the same attack who scratch Orsted" and this is why he used the stone cannon with is NOT the strongest spell in rudeus arsenal.

Yes, I dont care about cut content(as long as its not too important) BUT when they do ALL those far away shots, faces that dont move, bad movement, and still shots(especially that long one with Rudy/Badi just sitting there) it looks soooooo mid. They would NEVER have done that in S1, it may have had a face or two here or there but nothing to this level. I am really nervous for the important stuff coming up and that its going to get halfassed.

Fun Fact: when Kishirika is fully grown, she is taller than Badigadi Fun Fact 2: on the demon continent, the title of "Hero" is equivalent to the title of "Demon King" on the human continent, it means someone is an enemy who has battled Badigadi or someone of equivalent power

Badi calling Rudeus out for his lack of self-confidence was amazing! But considering he's been around Paul/Roxy during his younger years, then Ghislaine/Ruijerd during his teen years, and then getting mauled by Orsted, I can understand why he has such a distorted view of his own power level.

There was some skipped content that would have added more context: My understanding is that Badigadi came specifically to challenge Rudeus because Kishirika had praised him so much. The timing just happened to coincide with the Doldia mating season. He wasn't there for the princesses.

Cliff Best Boy is finally being introduced properly. He's literally one of the reasons why I'm excited for them to adapt season 2. He's so great. Also the fact that he still goes through with Elinalise DESPITE HER CURSE and DESPITE HID FAITH is one of the most loyal things you could ever see in this story.

As a WN-LN reader who has read the MT novel series 3 times in Japanese, let alone in other languages (including my 1st lang), I know watching the anime adaptation of the series is akin to reading a summary, following the story only on the surface level, as the anime has adapted the absolute minimum amount of story of the novel, skipping everything else (for anime pacing). But this episode was really too brutal. The 1st episode which threw 4 chapters into one episode all at once, so everything was ruthlessly shortened. Just 2 examples : ====================== 1) Rudeus saving Cliff from 6 bullies. The six bullies turned and glared fiercely in my direction. ..... After a moment, though, one of them recognized me. “H-Hey, that’s Quagmire…” “Quagmire? Wait, you mean Rudeus?!” “That Rudeus?! The guy who locked Linia and Pursena in a room and trained them?!” “But I saw Pursena wag her tail and calling him Boss…” “She wags her tail for anyone who gives her meat!” “But they do what he tells them now, right?” “Yeah. I saw them in class with that writing on their faces.” “What did it say again? ‘We are Rudeus’ love (sex) slaves,’ right?” “Well, I don’t remember exactly how it went…” “Damn. He beat them up and then enslaved them?” “They’re Doldia princesses, man!” “The guy doesn’t even think about the consequences…” After loudly whispering these highly inaccurate rumors, the group of bullies swallowed in unison and stared at me in something like awe. They looked each other in the face, nodded, and then turned their attention to the boy lying at their feet. “All right, kid. We’ll let you off the hook for today.” 2) Cliff's delusional glorification of Elinalise and Rudeus's thought on it. “That vision of chaste beauty in the window is named Elinalise Dragonroad, correct? A strong and lovely name, well-suited to its bearer! I’ve heard she’s an excellent student, but that’s hardly a surprise. And since she was an adventurer until recently, she knows how to use magic effectively in real combat.” Until this bit, the only thing that’s made me want to roll my eyes was that whole vision of chaste beauty in the window thing. For Elinalise, a window is just a convenient place to place her hands while offering her rear end to someone else. But Cliff clearly doesn’t believe that his goddess is even sexually active. ====================== And the animation quality was worst of all the episodes aired so far since S1 EP1. The voice acting of Badigadi was the only good thing with this episode.

"It's definitely spring..." In the text the mating season takes place in the fall, after the rainy season in the Great Forest. They do a LOT of timeskipping in these episodes, most clearly with the homeroom scenes. Homeroom sessions for special students are a month apart, and how many scenes did this episode have, four? Episode 5 had one scene. It's odd that they use a lot of spring imagery if the actual season's supposed to be late summer and the fall, since the episode ends in late fall or early winter. Then again, the festival with the girls dancing in what looked like traditional Finnish dresses looks to be a harvest festival.

Hitogami never said anything about finding the right person. What hitogami said was to join the school,research fittoa region teleportation incident. If he does that he will get his pride as a man returned. Also,this episode was a huge let down for me, considering out of all the episodes aired so far,this one skipped so many nuanced content. Like the seriousness of badi hearing about orsted and the amount of damage rudeus actually dealt to him. Confession of clif could've been done better too. But I can understand why the are rushing some things, considering how many episodes are left in the season and the amount of things to cover in those episodes

@@abin93 i get watcha mean, but if the information skipped is important to the main lore i have no doubt that it would be toched upon later on, for me, last ep and this one along with the dragon fighting one have been peak mushoku, as good if no better than a lot of season 1 (excluding episodes like 20-22, 16, etc) from a story perspective and animation.

Badigadi's size is related to how much living mass is upon his person. Rudeus blew off his upper torso and arms. What was left reconstituted as a Mini-Badi until the rest could find its way to him. In the LN, again, it was more gruesome with blood flying all around and bits of his flesh flying all over the place. He was hit by an artillery shell, after all. Some blood ended up on Julie's face, IIRC. Rudeus was already a Dwarven boogieman made flesh in her eyes, so this made her fear him more.

I'm generally against adaptations that don't take any liberties. And the author of the light novel is really very satisfied with the anime and also wants the complete novel to be adapted.

Just sharing some info you missed in the episode: (not spoilery) Notice the blue haired girl was one of the knocked out Suitors when they introduced Badigadi. If you make the connection, the blue haired girl WAS one of the girl's sylphy was talking about. as for her role in the story well thats to be shown soon ;) when badigadi said Rudy's mana capacity is one of the greatest of the world. He really meant it. considering a Demon Lord like him, who knows more than he lets on, you can trust that fact. Rudy's mana capacity is gonna be a VERY IMPORTANT factor in the story moving forward. in terms of power level and how he uses it eventually. the Beast People Challenging each other is because its Mating Season for em. Linia and Pursena are actually big shots so them having lots of suitors ready to challenge makese sense. because they are literal princesses. Now imagine how Rudy is doing things to them knowing full well they have Royal Status. its a trip! if you didn't know why Elinalise actually accepted Cliff's confession. Just remember Cliff said he will lift her curse. Thats more or less the reason why. as for the curse, I think it will be explained more thoroughly in future eps. wehat the anime missed is that the entire military higher ups and Magic Nation Staff tried to apprehend badigadi after the aftermath of the battle with him and Rudy. its a serious thing that a Demon Lord of all people invaded a university. Also When Badigadi was Hit by Rudy, His torso actually fell off. Rudy actualy cut him in half. as you can see though Badigadi can regenerate himself. He is deemed as the IMMORTAL DEMON KING for a reason. So yes, Rudy ACTUALLY kind of killed him. Badigadi also once said after the blast that "You almost killed me!" so thats proof enough how strong Rudy's attack was. imagine if given the time and prep work, how much damage Rudy can do to the Orsted with his current self?

There actually was a single frame where you can see that Badi is missing the upper half of his body. Also, I'm an anime only, so maybe this is just me, but man some light novel readers are being kind of annoying saying this is a bad adaptation. Sorry all the complaining is kind of getting to me, it's just that I highly doubt that the staff are rushing through the story like some people are saying

I'm a novel reader and I'm fine with the adaptation. It takes a lot of work to decide what to include and what to leave out for a 20min episode. The light novel provides a more complete picture, but seeing it on screen gives the most important points and helps seeing the story from another angle. Plus personally I binged through the anime before jumping from the web novels to the light novels to prime my imagination. To describe it, a lot of "actors" got recast for the different roles, and I have a more solid view on the sets and scenery while reading. The books get so good that I don't even see the text anymore. "All I see is blonde, brunette, redhead..."

people forget that they are going to animate from volume 7 to 12 if you know what happen in later volumes it makes senses to use less money in scenes were there is no action and prepare for use a lot of budget in the later arcs.

Budget has nothing to do with animation but time and we know the production take a big Hit by first the series director from session 1 went to a anthor production and his Co series director take over but with less time. And Studio blind has still not that a great connection base to freelancer but we as Fans of the series can be Glad that Q Kawa is a Studio Blind main staff

Too bad they didn't have Linia propositioning Rudeus in this episode. Cliff and Elinalise were getting sweet in the classroom, annoying Linia to no end. She suggested to Rudeus that they should start going out to show them what's what. Rudeus' answer? "Sure, we can do that if you think it can cure my impotence." That's when the other special students learned of his affliction. Since they didn't do that, likely we won't see an Evangelion reference down the line... They all had fun reactions: Linia and Pursena vehemently started denying that they've been spreading rumors about his capabilities, Zanoba invited him to ignore women and travel with him on the path of statues, and Cliff offered to take his confessions to help him with any spiritual problems.

And that you have certain storyboards that don't show the face permanently in dialogue, but that has nothing to do with animation but sometimes it wants to make it visually interesting. It's not a cheap and uncreative Hollywood film, it's a Japanese animation series with many creative people the episode that came out today was storyboarded by someone who likes to show symbolized things rather than saying them and he worked on the Nier anime as well and it was just more of an image than a direct saying dialogue this are well made episodes

He made a concerted effort to control his urges more prior to Eris leaving. Yeah he still had thoughts and pushed against his own boundaries, but now he's more willing to give in... Almost like an ends justifying the means, but like anyone with bad habits, it's hard to keep them in check when you indulge. @@TheGenreVerse Her name was Elise, and it has been about 2 years since that incident. It's not as if he thought she was REALLY offering him the actual cure,. He probably sees it as her offering an opinion. In regards to his perversion,. we need to establish his main objective, which we can do looking at his biggest trauma and shame. What traumatised him was being a parasite mooching off his parents, de disgust in his siblings' voices and eyes. This is what guides him, so he wants to have a fruitful and productive life. For him, that means having a family, friends, a relatively comfortable life (no need for luxury), and good standing in his community. He does not want status, just to be average respected. Everything else is in service of this goal. With that in mind, let's look at his self-control in regards to Eris. He controlled himself because there was a promise for the future. He also had started seeing her as a person and respecting her feelings. He controlled himself in service of a better relationship with her. After she left, he didn't let anyone get close, so there was no need to resist any tempation. When it comes to Linia and Pursena, his motivations are different. He does not the same desperate mindset of season 1. There is a bit of playfulness between the three of them. Pursena and Linia expect him to be a horndog, but they can't smell his arousal, which they find strange. The anime has indicated that beast people have great noses. Gyes and the guard-lady smelled his arousal and thought it was for the Sacred Beast, but it was actually for the Beast Girls. If you go back to the scene where he's healing them, he has a lwed face and Tersena is smelling him. Mind you, he had a bit of internal conflict that wasn't very important, so it got cut. Back to the playfulness, there is a flirty playfulness between him, Linia, and Pursena. If he was working, he could probably date either of them, or both. Pursena is also constantly offering Linia's body, an offer he accepts. Part of this dynamic is that, since they can't smell his arousal pheromones. they don't feel threatened by his touch. They know it's different. Linia usually responds by scratching him. Remember, they know how strong he is, she wouldn't scratch him back if it weren't playful. Not something I'd like to see my nephew doing, but it's the world they live in.

I'm convinced that if his "experiment" earlier had produced any kind of results, he would've asked Zanoba and Julie to leave the room. Then again, if it had been that simple a matter, he wouldn't be so desperate by that point as he would've already had results earlier and worked from there. When pushed, Rudeus can do some really dark things. The dynamic they have established is a bit sus, granted, but it's generally seen as play between them. He is their alpha; not in the cringe sense, but an actual sociological sense for beastfolk; he has demonstrated to be stronger than them, so they follow him. The girls allow him being handsy since *they don't smell any arousal* from him. So his harassment is seen by them as harmless, since it wouldn't result in anything of actual consequence beyond momentary embarrasement, for which he gets immediate retaliation anyway. After episode 12, however, they both recoil from how he *reeks* from remembering what he did to them and they go into a panic thinking he's finally lost control. This might be in S2E13, though in the novel the scene took place in the morning before him going to the student council office during lunch break.

@@TheGenreVerse But we have to be honest an animation director is there to do key animation on model and most of the time when so many animation directors are involved it means that the layout and key animation phase was done quickly because the deadline was short and most couldn't be on model so the animation director has to "repair" them but usually doesn't use the character design from the character designer but their own because it's easier for them to draw their styles quickly. So Hells Paradies is why wore because ther are 15 to 20 per episode this means ther was no time

If you're expecting Rudy to develop into a more prudent, less perverse person then spoilers (ig) none of that happens. Its just a part of who he is. Of course if it goes to the point of it being criminal, or hurting pple then it's an actual problem. Mushoku Tensei focuses more on his develop as a person. In this life he gets to do more than what he could in his past life. How he changes into a person with real connections and motivation to fight for those connections is what it's really about. One example is with Paul, another is with how he viewed Sylphy, Eris and Roxy. He viewed them as main heroines in a game and that kind of thinking got him where he is with Eris as it will be shown later in the series. I understand how it'll go over people's head, what the show is about imo, cos I also wasn't seeing how deep it was.

The quality really suffers in Season 2. They outsourced the animation to different studios. They rushed the story lines. The dialogue is inferior than in the LN. But I will still watch because good or bad, this is the only MT anime adaptation that we will ever get.

Are we talking in comparison to the manga or the novels? In the text he comes to terms with it, actually. And it's next episode territory. By his estimation, Fittz is a boy two years his junior. "His" feminine presentation, however, is what gets him going, so that's a source of confusion for him. His instincts are telling him Fittz is a woman, but the incongruity of what he intellectually has formed of "him" in his mind is causing dissonance. I think one of his first indications towards being cured was Fittz bringing his staff. He asked in jest what "he" thinks of the crystal on it, and Fittz' answer was of course "Oh, it's so big!" That got a response.
