In your air system it seems that you should have a small accumulator tank w the pressure switch mounted to the tank. The compressor actually bleeds pressure off when it shuts off so that it can start again with little or no head pressure... also a check valve between compressor and tank...

Have you checked to make sure you don't have a leak that prevents the system from coming up to full pressure? Its an easy thing to do. Put a dedicated pressure gauge between the pressure transducer and the system. You will be able to measure the pressure you achieved and see if it holds.

AIR COMPRESSOR PROMBLEM- Hey Rudy, this is Keith from south western Pa. By trade, I'm a HVAC tech and Musician. I have a solution for you. Pressure switch- It should be normally closed (on) until it reaches desired pressure. Now with that said, 1. Bypass the pressure switch and wire it to the power (hot line) . So power from the battery to the pressure switch, out of the pressure switch to the compressor. Since the switch is N/C (Normally closed), the compressor will run. Then when it gets up to desired pressure the switch (if operating correctly) will open (off) thus cutting the power. Love all the gangs channels by the way, big time fan. You all rock, God bless you all.

Had the same problem on my Nissan air lockers. Those pumps leak by the piston all the time. You really need a small air receiver after the pump and a non return valve between it and the pump. Take the air for the locker from the tank. ATB & regards from the UK.

You need to check you air pressure , the switch could be rated for a higher pressure than the pump makes or you have air leaks, and the pump can't reach shut off pressure.

The locker pumps have to just be wired wrong. If you went through all that and you got the same outcome. You should have the power or ground (depends on the pressure switch or your preference) running through the pressure switch. When the predetermined pressure is reached it disconnects that circuit and the pump turns off.

Been watching you for a long time. Your are talented and ambitious and should be able to take your craft to your greatest desires. Just a note on trouble shooting stuff that does not work. Make sure you use measuring devices for anything suspicious. A pressure gauge would have been a good tool on the air compressor for lockers issue, and it may be good to have the gauge on the dash so if something does not work, you immediately know where to start looking. Oil pressure in the trans is another gauge that one does not see very often, but it helps you know what is going on so you can fix issues before they become problems. Keep up the good work, Rudy. 😁
@ArnCital
@ArnCital Жыл бұрын
Why no gauge on the output? If you cannot measure it, you cannot troubleshoot it, all you can do is guess or replace parts constantly; use an oil-filled gauge to protect the pointer from fluctuations. BTW, a DC motor will arc across the contacts when it opens and then welds the contacts later. This is why a DC relay will 'wipe' the contacts to clean them whereas a pressure switch contacts will not. An automotive relay with the switch might be one good solution. I have many 12 volt relays on my Jeep with the relays and high current under the hood and not under the dash. In critical circuits like brakes I will use a cycling circuit breaker but otherwise I use circuit breakers that when tripped then I have to manually reset them or otherwise use fuses.

You guys have a very broad definition of what constitutes a "trail". Seems to me if occasionally some vehicles kind of fit without incapacitating damage it must be a "trail". With Ben's vehicle struggling for traction good plan for Paul to be pulling down on the bumper right in front of the wheel trying to get it to hook up so it can lurch forward to the spot on the "trail" where he is standing pulling on the bumper. Had it hooked up that could have resulted in a terrible waste of mountain dew.

It's your pressure switch that is wrong for your lockers. It means you either have a leak (water and soap chase the bubbles), your pressure switch isn't set low enough or your compressor is inadequate. You can adjust the pressure switch by removing the spring and cutting a little bit out to make it softer, or replacing it with a softer spring. Also if you have the compressor going straight to the lockers it's never going to work right. Make sure you are plumbing it to a reservoir, then to your lockers. You got those tubes sitting right by the compressor, make sure you can weld them to where they will hold pressure and a reservoir is solved it doesn't have to be a great capacity I just asked to hold PSI. Good luck 😁👍

If you've swapped compressors and pressure sensors multiple times, then you most likely have a leak in the lines or the fittings to the locker, or the locker itself is losing air. Fill up a sprayer (set on stream rather than mist) filled with water and some dish washing liquid - then spray down the lines and fittings going to the axle looking for bubbles. If you don't find any, it is time to pull the back cover and check the internal line going to the locker and the locker itself - you may even be able to hear it. I don't suggest that you use the on board compressor to do this, hook it into the shop compressor with adjustable output regulator so you can listen for leaks.
@Flyingdinosaur69
@Flyingdinosaur69 Жыл бұрын
Probably check the air lines on the locker setup. Could be leaking and maybe its not actually reaching the correct PSI to trigger the switch. You can put a pressure gauge in where the pressure switch goes and run it to see if its holding PSI

Proud of you for having a fire extinguisher with you as all off roaders should. I really thought the fire was going to be related to your air locker problem. Does anyone else's have a small reservoir tank, bigger compressor, check valve, is the compressor good or maybe a leak??On the dirt track we all used restrictor plates in place of a thermostat. You can buy them in packs of 3 different sizes. I'm thinking that I used the middle size the 5/8 or 3/4" one. If the water travels too fast thru the radiator it doesn't give it enough time for it to cool. I used rabbit wire a couple inches in front of the radiator and window screen against the cores to help protect it from rocks, small parts, etc and to help cut down on dust, bugs and small stuff that gets between the fins. If the track was muddy then I would spray the screen with spam cooking oil so a lot of the mud would fall off instead of sticking. One of those muddy nights just out of curiosity I didn't scrap what mud I could off at the track I scrapped it off at the shop and put it in buckets, it weighed 81 lbs and that was before a powerwash!

Try breaking the pinns off thst hold the spring on thermostat and put it back in. It will look like a big washer then without the part with the spring. This way it slows the coolant down better then just letting it flow with out a thermostat. I learned this from a friend ling ago when my Iroc Z was over heating. That way it slows the coolant down so the fans can cool it down some.

Your transmission fluid pick up is located towards the front of the sump. If you go vertical there won’t be any fluid there and you will experience a loss of pressure and then a loss of engagement.

Get a compressor with a storage tank. Hobbyists use them with sirbrushes, compressor runs until the pressure is achieved, when air is drawn from the tank the compressor should come back on to maintain the pressure needed.
