No helmet, no gloves, no traction or stability control. Just a skilled driver with a huge set of balls & a yellow rocket with bigger balls than his. #awesome

Well. This is the most incredible display of driving skill I've ever seen. Utterly fantastic! That RUF CTR is a fire-breathing monster! I would have loved to have seen the tires after this session. I've watched a lot of videos of cars lapping the Nurburgring, but nothing like this. I had to take some blood pressure medication after it was over. :) A lot of you commenters don't understand that when you have a 2600 lb 500+ hp rear-engine car going flat-out, this is how you drive it.

Driver is Stefan Roser, German motor journalist and test driver for Ruf and still alive though in retirement now.

Continuation of previous post. You use the heavy rear-end to help steer the car. If you concentrated on the lines he took in and out of the corners you'd see that they were almost perfect. The word "amazing" is vastly overused today, but this driving performance is truly amazing. A manly driver in a manly car with a manly manual gearbox on a manly track--couldn't be better. Kudos to the driver, whoever he was. Wow!

Jeff Puha Also I believe no power steering or ABS makes it even more manly. His lines are perfect for how he's drifting in and out and maximizing he oversteer to point the nose quickly in the direction he wants to go. But I'm pretty sure the time can be faster by trying to keep from sliding and simply "squirting" out of the corners hard on the throttle as many Porsche racing drivers recommend. The man in the video's name is Stefan Roser and is my idol for his skill. But about the lap time, I believe he has said in interviews when criticized for his driving style that these laps were just for fun to showcase what the car is capable of. Drifting was this guy's driving style long before it was cool. I read an interview where he talks about how he had an old vw bug he would drive on snowy, icy parking lots perfecting the art saying once he got a bmw 1602 he could do in the dry what the vw did on ice. Interesting guy. In his opinion the VW golf Mk1 gti is one of the best cars ever hitting all the important things perfectly. Wish I could get a mk4 here in the US.

This is what high performance driving should look like. Man and Machine both pushed to the limit....With cars these days its nearly impossible to get even close to the limit without going to jail or dying. You get one gear change and your going a hundred twenty miles an hour, not really that fun. I love the new tech that makes these incredible speeds and times possible, but it has definitely took some of the fun out of driving. Its fun to rocket to 60 in less than 3 seconds but its more like your a passenger on a Rollercoaster ride than a skilled driver getting the most out of their car. Rollercoasters are fine but not really what I'm looking for in a sports car.

At that speed in a lighter 911 Carrera 2 from the 80s the helmet wouldn't make a difference if he crashed - which just underlines how big balls he has!

You know, the RUF is, like most of the PORSCHE breed rear wheel drive. And this was filmed, what I think, in the early 80s, so the driving is top notch. And just because the only reliable way to drive american cars is in a straight line, you dont have to critizie the RUF! And F1 cars can also be drive by "drivers of international standards! but no one would call them crap! Go back to your 1/4 mile races and let the real pros drive a car!

Dear god, it looks like the steering wheel was only aligned to the direction of travel about 50% of the time! Truly the CTR RUF was a total piece of crap, and undriveable at speed, for anyone except a driver of international standing.
