Well, we all know they are idiots. But they are idiots a second time when they get towed out. Do people not realise you should stand well clear or tow ropes and "snatch-um" straps in case they, or the anchor point breaks? In fact the rule of thumb is for non-drivers is to stand at a distance twice the length of the tow rope. Yet here we have people leaning over the back of their van virtually holding on to one end of the rope. Compounding the situation is that most of these people probably don't even know how to attach a tow-rope securely to their vehicle or know whether their tow-rope is in good condition and rated for the load. Now I agree that the tow speeds are slow and and mostly gentle, but we certainly see cases where the handbrake is still on or the car still in gear. That will certainly strain up a tow rope and an anchor point to the point that they could cause very real damage if they break.
@samwiseknows2 жыл бұрын

It is interesting how people rush through as fast as possible as though they are expecting to help the vehicle to hold its breath but creating a massive pile up of water. Then with the internals obviously in a bad way from the hydraulicing then they try to start the engine probably further trashing it. I remember being in a bus with a massive big end knock and it finally gave way and we ground to a halt. The driver then spent 20 minutes trying to restart the engine and if was not entirely ruined at the first fail it probably was beyond redemption by the end of that futile operation. I suppose many people are not aware what is happening under the bonnet and often in England people swell up with pride telling me they have never lifted the bonnet on their car. A true gentleman obviously has a chap do these sort of things for him. I expect a lot of people get very soggy parcels in this area especially from DPD 'your delivery experts'.

As stuinNorway said, tyres are the least of their worries! The reason the rear tyres are locked is because that BMW is RWD, and the engine has been Hydrolocked by the water as the air intake is down low in the front bumper. Minimum it'll need a complete engine rebuild, possibly a new block too, and likely a new transmission and, and maybe diff whilst they're at it. Add to that the water damage to the electrics, and like many of the cars you've seen above, it'll probably be a complete insurance right off.

1st clip: Let me guess. They couldn't keep up the payments on the car anymore so they wrote it off to claim on insurance so they wouldn't have to pay anymore ? There is no way someone in their right mind would blast into deep water at that speed in a car like that. 8:30 Volvo guy. It's a bit over 1 foot deep. Your limit is about 1/3 foot (if going slow and the water isn't flowing) I don't think these drivers realize how expensive an engine rebuild it (especially the diesel ones). Diesel motors really don't get along with water. The fuel gets compressed to the point of combustion (a lot more than a petrol motor). Water doesn't compress like diesel vapour so basically if you try (especially at good revs) you'll just bend / break things and need a new motor . I used to own a truck (bit longer than the one at 1:29) but I had a snorkle. Even with the snorkle I'd either turn around or go slow. The tray on mine was about 1.2 metres off the ground (3 ft 11). No point going through if you are going to damage your vehicle or soak the load / cabin.

I think you should create a 'win compilation'. The red mini cooper should be the first one on the list

Good idea! Some of the 'wins' are actually just as entertaining as some of the fails.
