When you drive so fast through the water that it forces water to shoot out through the small slits of your headlights and bodywork, you are probably going to fast. Ripping and damaging body work, not to mention the risk to your engine.

Call me stupid but a 225/45R17 tyre which I'm going to guess is a pretty typical size for a modern car has a height of 25" / just over 2ft, the marker board is showing less than a 12" / 1ft so surely if the drivers slowed down the ford would be easy to cross without drowning the engine? Fair point some cars will have the air filter low down *most* should make it?

They probably never knew. This sounds a bit technical for the average inhabitant here and any true English gentleman will have a chap that does for him and thinks any deep thought about how anything functions very demeaning. The number of people I have met who swell up with pride when they say they have never opened the bonnet of their car is beyond count. I really doubt if many of the people who are victims here have any idea about what is happening under that bonnet and will be proud of it. The indicator of any true gentleman in England considered to be of any worth will be that he knows less when he dies than when he was born.

I have seen the police watch the area on these videos and I find their strategy absolutely pathetic. Instead of parking up and issuing tickets to those that are foolish, they would be far better to have a police officer standing at either end, stopping each and every vehicle and making them go through slowly. Two or three weeks later, you will see a drastic reduction in idiots driving through at breakneck speed, endangering other vehicles and the pedestrians that gather there. It is only a matter of time until a serious accident occurs.
