I watched Groucho and Chico over and over again as a kid and was blown away at the rapid fire quick wit they displayed. It played a big role in developing my personality and sense of humor as an adult, and I'll always appreciate them for it. Groucho was a master of his craft .

tara lang Groucho, who was an incredibly sexist guy, later claimed that Dumont didn't understand any of the jokes. He said she thought it was just straight drama. That's absolute nonsense; she set up the jokes and reacted with expert comic timing. The last performance of her life was on stage with Groucho when they were both old, acting again brilliantly as his foil. She died two days later.

She was amazing, but she isn't in Monkey Business or Horsefeathers, and they are both hilarious. Thelma Todd was also a wonderful comic partner for Groucho. Very different dynamic - not a pompous target for him, but a much sexier mood between them.

I feel sorry for anyone who has to rely on the captions generated for this video compilation. So many of the captions are wrong, and are often run on, so that who's saying what is totally lost. With the rapid fire verbal humor of Groucho, these elements are critical.

This character is so funny, you may even forgive him he caused a war out of spite... almost. Translated: People only remembers the funny parts of old movies, but almost every single iconic main character was usually a selfish dick. Just an observation, to offer you something different from the common praise comment.

Vastly better. Night At The Opera has great scenes but their characters are softened and watered down, and there is too much bloat with extraneous romances, musical numbers, etc. Day At The Races starts the real decline. It gets pretty dire after that.
