When you finish the rug do you add a backing to it, if so what do you use?

Unless I'm going to hang it on the wall I use a backer, I've been glueing a heavy canvas from the art supply store, or felt/rubberized rug backer material to the floor side.

You can find it pretty easily on aliexpress, or google 'imakerugs', they sell it.

Do you back or bind the rugs? Just wondering if they are safe to vacuum or not ☺️

I put a canvas or felt/rubber rug backer on the floor side and then have the edges bound by a local rug shop. Mine are safe for a light vacuuming, but no aggressive spinning bar attachments on it or anything like that.

hey how big is your frame?

It's 4'x4', give or take a few inches, plus the feet, which raise it another 12"-18". Took about three 8' 2x4s to build

Did u use rugs shearing machine to flatten your rugs?

I finished this one with duck bill scissors and a cheap wahl hair clippers, but I've since gotten a larger shear & carpet carving machine- the difference is extremely noticeable. I'll post more vid of it soon.

What is the thing holding the fabric called

It's just a frame made out of 2x4's w/ carpet tack strips around the edge to hold the fabric on

No Fun do you make rugs a lot ? Which do you think would be better to make a large rug that is actually used as an area rug ? Cut pile or loop?

@@Mattdotnfo I think it's up to your preference to be honest, I have both types in my apartment and they're all fine. I will say that loop pile can tend to catch dust and stuff a little more, but it's gonna shake out of either type ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
