It amazes me how professional athletes who have been playing rugby for years, still tackle high and proceed to be thrown across the field... I geuss in yhe heat of the monent they forget to tackle low...

Just ask NZ what happened in the last RWC final. Carded for forgetting how to tackle and arguably could have been a factor as to why they lost the game.

As a yank watching, curious about rugby and slowly learning the rules....are concussions an issue in union or league play? With not much in the way of pads and helmets, I could see guys getting concussed often...Just curious.
@bobonacob71687 ай бұрын
yes, absolutely. Although there are now protocols that have been put in place after a big lawsuit over brain damage in the older game
@lonl1237 ай бұрын
@@bobonacob7168 Thanks for the answer partner.....The NHL (National Hockey League), my favorite sport has a concussion issue as well that they are trying to deal with, with mixed results....American football as well, though if you listen to the news reports it's getting better for Football. I've kind of had enough of American football of late...not sure why, played it in school and was in a Flag team when I was in the military, but just burnt out...been watching rugby and am starting to get into it...fun and quick sport...don't have to wait 2 minutes for each play to start....lol.
@philipeafroboy17 ай бұрын
historically an issue and will continue to be an issue even with all the new laws brought in. You can't have 120kg men run at each other 100 times a game and not have concussions. The sub-concussions are also dangerous, as many of them over a period of time can lead to CTE developing in the brain

Why do the guys sometimes extend their arm with ball in hand behind the pile after they've been tackled?
@michaeldutoit74918 ай бұрын
To place the ball backwards for the scrumhalf (9) to get the ball out from the ruck and have quick continued play. The ball/play does not go dead with a tackle, only when a handling error (knock on) or penalty (holding on) happens the play would stop and the defending team gets the ball.

Bruddaaa, I'm sure nfl can learn something from rugby. For example, to play ball without all the gear. Get hit like men.

@@mornepieterdelport5632 bruddaaa, the pads dont do anything, the helmet is basically a weapon while the shoulder pads are cardpoard.

@@bryanmoore7907 what is the use of it then? I'm sure the helmet helps with a concussion and so. Nfl hits are insane though, completely against rugby rules, rugby league on the other hand is something else.
@temoanahakaraia27542 ай бұрын
Yeah American football is softer they need pads and head helmets when they see this They actually think it’s scary amarican football is soft bro you can’t say anything 😂
@Distraction32 ай бұрын
@@temoanahakaraia2754 Nah, the average NFL hit is the equivalent to a car crash, not to mention, that 90% of hits in the NFL would be illegal in rugby. Players that have played both sports professionally like Christian Wade, Jordan Maliata, and Louis Rees-Zammit all say that an NFL hit hurts a lot more than a rugby hit.
@JacaboBlanco6 ай бұрын
Why does it seem like most players are generally just lightly jogging or standing around most of the game? Yet rugby fans shit on american football bevause rhey take a break between plays lol
