Nobody is pretending about Siya either. We aren't pretending about any Springbok - those performances for the Boks aren't for sale. They've said it means more but clearly some French owners thought that was a dare instead of the truth. Uncapped South Africans might be better if the last pound of flesh is what you want for your money. And once they're a Bok they might still turn in better performances than what you got despite paying them more money. Capped and active Boks? Yeah, no. That kind of edge and loyalty was never for sale. We have been down the road more than once, rinse and repeat.@@ethancroft5512

The next challenge for Rassie is not expanding his player base as that will naturally happen given the talent pool he has created. Its actually his coaching tree and developing and grooming the next batch of Bok coaches. You look at Bill Walsh and Andy Reid vs Bill Belichick trees and you can spot a great gap in successful coaches who develop others vs an all time coach who just used his talent pool.

Phepsi,Tshituka bros etc....
@GrantKanaarАй бұрын
He went to the wrong club and the wrong part of France. Paris has become a violent racist city and the French were probably hostile towards him, especially after SA knocked them out of their own world cup. South African rugby players who have played in France have mostly gone to clubs in the south of France and many have done well there especially at clubs like Toulon where Bakkies Botha, Danie Roussouw, Bryan Habana, Joe Van Niekerk, Juan Smith, Duane Vermeulen, Eben Etzebeth and Cheslin Kolbe played. A guy like Joe Van Niekerk even got inducted into their clubs hall of fame. No other springbok has been inducted into a French clubs hall of fame. Siya would have enjoyed Toulon and the French mediteranean seaside resorts a lot more than a dirty filthy city like Paris but he chose to chase the huge payday.
@ethancroft5512Ай бұрын
@@GrantKanaar What on earth are you talking about? No one was hostile towards Kolisi. In fact he was treated like a superstar the moment he arrived at Racing. The simple fact is that he is vastly overrated and Racing made a mistake by believing the media-generated hype surrounding him.
@GrantKanaarАй бұрын
@ethancroft5512 well the clubs owner wasn't very polite in his recent statements about Kolisi which were very insulting and nobody knows the personal circumstances or situation how his wife and kids were settling in France, maybe they were struggling and didn't fit in and this could be a reason. Plus the fact Rassie has publicly said he wants his captain based in South Africa and if Siya still has aspirations to be part of the boks and continue the captaincy role then a move back home makes sense. Who cares what fans who don't like or rate him think. He is a back to back world cup winning captain and they aren't. 2 bad if he hasn't performed up to expectation. Shit happens. By the way Kobus Reinach the bok scrumhalf who plays club rugby in France received death threats from french supporters after they won the world cup so there is an element of hostility and hatred towards springboks in France and u personally don't know if any was directed at Siya or not.There could have been. He is better of leaving than staying in an environment he is obviously not comfortable in and hasn't been playing well in.
@SiyoyoStofile-kw6yhАй бұрын
@@ethancroft5512 French clubs have a history of doing this I'm sure even Malcolm Marx would be called useless if Racing don't make the playoffs having signed him😁....Etzebeth was also called out for lacking commitment at Toulon, Pollard the same at Racing,Reinach,Gellant the list is endless...like I said it's almost like a European football mentality even the manner in which they unveil players it's quite a pompous affair and foreign to rugby ethos....whereas the Irish and Japan clubs understand that one or two marquee players do not make a team, instead those marquees most valuable job is to groom the developmental players and ofcourse to bring that international BMT at business end of the season...you see it even in cricket with the IPL and how that exposure has helped young Indian players.
@GrantKanaarАй бұрын
@SiyoyoStofile-kw6yh like I said in an earlier comment it depends which french club. Who the owner and coach are. Take Bakkies Botha, Bryan Habana, Joe Van Niekerk and Juan Smith for example, all became legends and fan favourites at Toulon and performed incredibly well. The French wanted to make Joe Van Niekerk mayor of Toulon such was his popularity when he captained them for 5 or 6 seasons. They inducted him into their rugby hall of fame. Cheslin Kolbe and Eben on the other hand just didn't settle and perform for Toulon, yet Cheslin was a superstar at Toulouse before switching. Then you get the extreme behaviour of certain club owners who turn up to team barbeques unannounced and fire players on the spot and their 3 year contracts end there in the 1st year like what happened to Pierre Spies at Montpellier and several of his team mates. Frans Steyn who has experienced it all in French club rugby explained it well. Basically you need to put the effort in, adapt to the culture, learn the language as if its a French coach the training sessions, team talks etc will be in French not English. Jake White fell out of favour at Montpellier for this reason when coaching there as he didn't learn the language. Conducted everything in English which pissed of the club owner, the French players, the media and the fans and he got fired. One French player playing under Jake at Montpellier complained that his rugby deteriorated but his English improved dramatically. Foreign Players and coaches who can speak French or make the effort do better than those who don't. If you go and find old press media interviews of Joe Van Niekerk , Jonny Wilkinson, Bryan Habana playing for Toulon they speak in French not English at press conferences. Same went for guys like Rory Kockott...all fluent in French.
