First and foremost above everything else, Jonah Lomu was a beautiful human being. If you ever had the privilege to meet him in person he treated anyone like they were the most important person in the World! He was a sick man, kidney dialysis.. never got to play to his full potential because of his sickness but he left a legacy to this day, everybody wants to be like Jonah!. Just as everybody in pop culture wanted to be like Michael Jordan, Jonah Lomu will always be the rugby equivalent. A marvel, a magnificent specimen, gentle giant, humble human, great Kiwi and legendary All Black.

Scary to think that Lomu achieved all these feats whilst never being fully fit (doctors said he probably has been suffering kidney issues for some time). RUgby's first global star, but also to be in talks with an NFL team in those days was something unheard of. Just wished he was still around, but nonetheless, his legacy will never die and will always be remembered.

I met Jonah in a Tesco supermarket in Bournemouth UK prior to the World Cup in England. He said hello to my Mum and we met his boys and his Mum he was very nice and chilled out. We took a couple photos and wished eachother well. Top bloke

The wingers today either have size & not a wingers pure speed or they’re fast but lack in size & power. Jonah had it all, fastest over 10metres, his footwork was underrated too, the in & out to stun the defender, his sidestep covers 2 metres & also just the balance & ability of staying up while running on the side, fending off defenders. Not just for New Zealand but the greatest winger in the world who ever laced the boots in my opinion.

I always love listening to the commentary on Jonah's games. Every commentator got so worked up, they couldn't help the overspill into ManFandom. The English commentators are superb, and often just totally lost for words. Jonah was the finest example of what Man can achieve, and this was so much a part of his adoration. Everyone loved him, which not many of anything get to achieve. On top of all of that, he was this gentle giant. We're only sent a few like him for the briefest of times. We're blessed and lucky to have had him in our fold and be able to witness his might and humbleness. A truley unique and special person.❤

Yeah my heart is torn between BG and JK as I saw them both play on the right wing for the ABs and BG was my first AB hero! In SA in 1970 was unbelievable. His side-step and speed was phenomenal and sat there in disbelief that once he got to the try line he would try to score under the goalpost side-stepping 3 defenders to get there - incredible! BUT BG was never the same player after that as he never prepared himself like in did in 1970 and seemed a bit heavier therefore lost his speed! JK was phenomenal! Going to Eden park and seeing him score 80m-90m tries was the most amazing thing anyone saw! He was big at 6"3 and trained hard! He did not have out-in-out speed but he trained hard for speed with athletics sprint training and could side-step, decoy side-step and in-and-out on you with a swerve! The thing about JK was that he hated losing and was an integral part of one the best All Black teams of all time 1987-1990 and part of that Auckland team 1985-1993! For me I would go with JK!

I was at the Hong Kong Sevens with my brother in law and after a match we went down onto the field to take a photo between the posts... a (big) guy was walking by and so I asked him if he could take a photo of myself and my friend... I only saw this guy from behind and didn't know who he was... he turned around and said "Sure bro..." It was Jonah Lomu... We took lots of photos that evening... He was a great guy and "scrummed down with us". Sadly the photos are lost in antiquity, changing countries and what not, but the memories are still good.

I had the privilege of going to school with Jonah. Let me tell you, when he was our number 8, we all just knew that if there was a scrum in the opposition half regardless of whose put in it was we had a shot at 6-7 points (tries used to be worth 4)...but if we had the feed inside the opposition 22, you'd confidently bet your Friday night KFC on us scoring. He is missed.

Early 90s in Asia, I wasn’t aware of the rugby world when one day was brought into the game by Jonah Lomu. He was that internationally known. Have been watching world cups and nation meets ever since. He was a Michael Jordan equivalent. Amazing thing is he was never even 100%. Far from it. More amazing though was how humble he was.

Jonah Lomu, who unfortunately left us much too soon, was first of all a great person and so humble and second undoubtedly the first (and maybe till even now the only) real superstar of rugby. And all that, as was rightfully said, without being able to tap into his full potential because of his medical issues. It's mindblowing to think what he could have achieve as a healthy person. Sure nowadays Richie McCaw is seen as the GOAT and that is justified in his own rightbut Jonah was something different.

Lomu was devastating but even back then eventually opposition learned how to defend against him and he was shown up as a 1 trick pony. Saveas 2015 performance against France eclipses any Lomu game day performance even making his game against England look average. Its a different era now ..wingers are not only big and powerful like Lomu was ..but they have next level handling and off load skills..Lomu would not make the Allblacks of today as his one dimensional attack would get shutdown in a heartbeat..and true he was first international star of rugby but that doesnt mean he was all time greatest in the least. I would argue John Kirwan in his prime was on a par or even more devastating on attack than Lomu .

@@Outdoorcookwarereviews you clearly have no clue about rugby . Lomu was still developing and was cut down before he got to his prime . Savea lacked the determination to be the best . Lomu would have developed his off load better but also at the time offloading wasn't as much of the game back then . The world only ever saw 60-70% of what he was capable of. Tuilagi is an average player and so is the US winger . Lomu paved the way for today's wingers . Had he not played at 11 they would still be playing smaller guys there . Look at the wingers before him they were smaller and fast . Lomu was the first time anyone had a big man with pure pace. Teams only had one way to stop him and that was committing alot of players but very few were successful. Lomu is and always will be the best 11 because without him we would have the big powerful wingers and back that rugby currently does.

Ok, Here's my story of seeing Jonah in a Cole's in Auckland. 2002 walking down an alsie I look up and here comes the Mighty Man up and past me with his Beautiful Wife in step with him. Now people I was shocked and in awe of the man. I was frightened by the sheer size of Jonah by his massive head and I was cringing which made Jonah's Wife crack up laughing .Jonah gave me a look of what's wrong with you? I shit myself and ran away. True story lol 😆 😂 🤣

First to say that Jonah was a monster player, but rate him as the best ever? No I disagree! The biggest mistake the AB made was to build their game around Jonah! Rugby is a 15 man game!
