Idk how many rounds you’ve put through there but I wish I could use my slide lock as a slide release with my thumb on mine! I’ve put about 1500 rounds through it and that slide lock(yes hardcore gun nuts I know it’s a slide lock not a release) but it just refuses to work in anyway it wasn’t designed for. It’s both a great ode to Ruger for quality but also a pain in the ass bc I love this gun so much and it’s been in my pocket for 2yrs now & I figured “oh I know it’s not a slide release but it’ll hopefully loosen up & I won’t have to rack it back and disengage it every time” we’ll I was wrong on that 😂 but I still cannot find anything bad about this gun at the $249 price point I got it at. Before you ask yes I did get the teal(Tiffany Blue) frame w/silver slide! I love when ppl see it & say “that’s a little girls .380 isn’t it!?” Well no it’s not a .380 & even if it were a .380 and even it is a “girls gun” (normally that’s all the full frame lovers that say .45 or nothing edc) technically in a self defense scenario no matter the caliber, no matter the colors, no matter if it’s full, mid, compact, metal or polymer, DEAD IS DEAD & as long as it’s the bad guy who’s on the receiving end I could care less if I’m shooting a neon pink noisy cricket with rainbow tassels and glitter coming out behind the bullet bc those Norma Ammunition Monolithic HPs don’t play around. If it’s not the Norma’s then it’s the Federal Premium PD 124gr Punch JHPs and both seem like they would ruin someone’s day. For the price point I can’t find anything bad about this gun. Just remember as long as you’re not carrying a High Point you’re A OK!!!

Thank You very much for your great video! Just got My EC9s today and went to My shooting range to try it out. When I got home and started the takedown to clean, I ran into the same slide issue that You explained. Just one important thing that I wish to add to is that when you pull back on the slide just a little bit as You said to do, squeeze and hold the trigger as you pull the slide forward or else it still won't move. I know as I re-watched that You were doing it but I didn't catch on right away. Thanks again because I was following the owners manual instructions word for word and they did not cover this information about the slide removal anywhere near as well as You did!

Great video…my slide catch is up and I have to manipulate it just for the slide to come off. The pin was getting stuck on the barrel during insertion. Yea it was fun getting this back together lol.

You shouldn't have to slide it back until it clicks. Mine actually doesn't do that for some reason. There's a little, flat slide release lever, right in front of the safety lever. Push that down and the slide comes right off. Might need to push the slide with very light pressure. But it works.

Yes, it is necessary.

@@gunguytx no it is not necessary. You do not even have to pull back slightly on the slide to get it to release forward. Just push down on the slide release and it will go forward for removal.

If you use an empty mag instead of the orange one you will need to hold down the slide release when pulling the slide off.

The slide part that covers the pin will not lock back into place. It just flops around. Any ideas? This is a brand new gun.

My dog ate my gun. I set it on the trampoline while i was weed eating(i have a locked gated fenced in yard) and he grabbed it right off the tramp. I had to clean it somethin fierce 😂

I'm going to have to send my pos ec9s into ruger. The slide is stuck and won't rack ! Once they fix it, it will be sold and I will never purchase another firearm by ruger! This crap is unacceptable!

Did you remove the magazine? Ruger makes great weapons although where they really shine is their revolvers, not their auto loaders. The EC9 isn't super user friendly like other weapons that don't have silly takedown pins.
