Yep, I got the Max-9 about 4 months ago and with almost a thousand rounds through it now, not one problem at all. One of the main reasons I bought it was the tritium and fiber optic front sight and that the slide is optics ready. Never shot with an optic red dot before and I bought the Holosun 407k x2 for it. Installed it about a minute and after zeroing it in at the range, I’ve grown to love the red dot. Once I got used to finding the dot from a quick draw, it’s way faster than iron sights because you’re only looking at the dot on the target. Nothing to line up, no “sight-picture” to struggle with. I’m a red dot fan now. Great little pistol and the red dot makes it as good as it can be.

Well, the Max 9 has far exceeded my expectations and it carries concealed IWB like a charm. I've fired 1000 plus rounds thru it now and it preformed flawlessly. Love the gun, especially with the Hogue EC9s grip sleeve. Got mine from ShopRuger just to be sure of the right one. One trouble I've had with the LCP, LC9s Pro, LC9 AND the Max 9 is I need to almost break two thumbs to get the slide release to let the slide go forward. Actually did a little extremely careful file work on several of the used ones and ended up satisfied. I can't imagine why Ruger (I'm a fanboy) can't get it right. Yes, they release effortlessly with a little backward slide pull, but still ... I prefer all controls to function.

@alexvargas4668 Жыл бұрын
It's most likely the ammo. I noticed that when demand for ammo increased the quality of certain manufacturers suffered because they were trying to crank out ammo so fast. I have 4 boxes of fiocchi 9mm that is literally too big to fit in the chamber (out of spec), the same thing happened to me with a bulk box of Remington ammunition as well (neither one will fit into the chamber of any of my 9mm pistols). This may be overkill, but I would still prefer if Ruger could add an accessory rail for a gun light. if you need a light, this is the wrong type of gun for you. The purpose of a micro compact is for quick draw close-in scenarios where a light is impractical.
@kenfan56662 жыл бұрын
@@deekay3064 Thanks for your opinion. The point of the Max 9 is for a primary every day carry gun that is LIGHT WEIGHT AND COMPACT enough to carry daily but also has ADEQUATE POWER, high capacity, and decent target acquisition, hence the fiber optic/ ironsights/optics ready slide cut. But what about the rare date night that you go out to the movies with your significant other to see the midnight premier of your favourite marvel movie? The MAX 9 is great if you are in a daytime gun fight but you don't always get to choose when you have to use a gun. A dark room with no sunlight almost voids the whole point of having fiber optics or a red dot. Those sight systems allow you to acquire a target and aim. But a weapon light allows you to identify the target. Before that movie shooting I never would have cared about a gun mounted accessory light. I didn't even edc. My understanding of every day carry may be different than yours. I choose to carry small tools for portability and system integration. I also operate on different philosophy of use and levels of preparedness and redundancy, that two is one and one is none. When I carry a fanny pack it is for back up. My primary pistol is for security and defense. But I would prefer a couple of 9mm pistols that were also higher capacity and had all sight and targeting options. I carry two of everything in my fanny pack. Regardless of whether it's a micro compact anything, be it a pen, notepad, compass, rape whistle, signalling light, small sewing kit, chapstick, lighter, firestarter, rain poncho, mylar blanket, 20' spool of 550 paracord, duct tape, water bottle, small bag of snacks multitool, handheld light, first aid med kit/IFAK/trauma kit/tournakits, two tampons, two maxi pads, keys, mace spray canisters, zip ties, and two "tactical folding knives" with seat belt cutter glass breaker, small handguns with iron night sights, and a laser, of the same model with extra mags. All of this fits in my fanny pack. I have two of everything in case one goes down/is defective/breaks/gets lost. Or if someone is around to assist. The reason I want a micro anything is for edc. Check out NUTNFANCY's "Obligation to Carry" " The Sheepdog Concept" "Fear no Evil" videos. Basically check out all his videos playlist. Especially Life philosophy and preparedness, EDC, and gear check. I used to carry the lcp2 but now that the LCP max is out I will integrate that into my edc instead. I am not criticising you when I say that I think you are under prepared. Because I rarely need the first aid/trauma/tournikit/ifak kit, never needed either the tampons or maxipads but if I'm ever in a mass shooting casualty situation I want to either be able to protect myself or treat someone's wounds or hand my wife or kids an extra gun or two. Thank God I have never been in a shooting, but I have been on an airplane when someone suffered a medical emergency and I was the only person who initiated CPR and I was also the first on scene to a few fatal car accidents and I am only a civilian. I was not able to save any lives but did render aid. I also started integrating some pocket sized Bibles and prayer cards. You never know when your going to need something or what you will need. But it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. Beside, when seconds count, the cops/EMT 's/ help are (usually) just minutes away.
@kenfan56662 жыл бұрын
@@MrKruger2 I'm actually partial to the Security 9 because it is so similar to the LCP MAX except that it has an accessory rail and shoots 9mm. My only hesitations are that it lacks the optics ready slide cut and the rear sight is not squared off for one handed racking.

I get your point...but the LCP Max is hammer fired, it has no "striker", just a firing pin assembly.

Decent gun but built very cheap! Take down pin is a joke, slide wiggles a lot, mine rattled in my pocket with both magz. Dry firing it sounded like a cheap toy. Sold it

I find it strange that the reviewer had the time to make a video stating that his gun had issues, but he didn't have the time to actually show the issues when they happened. Oh well. Future will tell if this gun is a lemon, or it actually represents a true sample of this gun design.

The price point means you have leeway to get it ported by Mag-na-port for just $167. And you can afford a good optic too. I called and spoke with Mag-na-port so that is why I have a specific price for porting the Ruger Max 9.

It's nice others like this Shield plus are coming down now. 440 Ford The Shield Plus now care. Which is worth it too many, Timmy. Much better trigger, tighter Etc. Course you don't get the Optics ready, which I'm not ready for yet anyway

Wow, these situations suck. Sounds like a decent gun, of course ruger's customer service is great.. looks decent other than I strongly dislike that skinny very curved trigger still. Personally, I'll stick with the M&P line still. Just bought the Plus

Had the same issues with my LC9S Pro, multiple failures, and total failure at200 rounds, this gun looks like like my LC9S Pro with a fancy slide and larger capacity. Not the best gun Ruger ever made good luck, imho
@ghimmy472 жыл бұрын
Try with your trigger finger on the side of the trigger guard and a quick move to the trigger to fire. You'll find the trigger locked due to putting pressure on the actual trigger before the drop safety.

I see and hear about more and more issues. Trigger locking up, take down gate breaks due to the slide lock spring, slide holds open with ammo still in the mag, sights off, mags hang up. I can’t see why people accept Trash and think it’s normal to have to send a NEW gun back for repairs. I’ll keep my Glock 43 with the +2 magguts. 8+1 is in a gun that works is better than 12+1 when the gun malfunctions.

I'm sure it's a very fine design. But all of these comments about "minor" problems that require sending it back to the factory make me think that this excellent design isn't very well executed. Well, concealed carry guns are for critical self-defense applications, which means that ANY failures have a strong potential to result in death for the good guys and victory for the bad guys. So, whatever the problem is, and no matter how "minor" it supposedly is, no thanks!

Any gun can malfunction. In this case he would've been able to fire a first shot but would have to pull the slide back and then release for the second. It probably could've resulted in death but it's better than a full on jam like some guns have issues with. Thankfully he only needed springs and mags replaced. Common stuff.

Production of this gun is still fairly new. The p365 had problems for years and now it's considered as good as the shield

Shot mine and before I shot the first box broke with the same slide issue. The lady told me that it’s an issue with the spring provider/supplier. It’s the second issue with a Ruger since my wife’s LCP II (extractor/ springs/ and other unknow parts) came apart within the first 30 shots. Ruger quality is going down the drain and what’s with my trust in their products. Ruger is becoming the new Remington.

The ruger Max 9 is just like the lc9s it just holds more around the same little Lame slide hold back catch same little annoying safety same sorry way to take the gun down and it has a horribly more pitched trigger toward the front of the gun you better not wear gloves if you plan on shooting it I think I'll pass thank you for the video
