I bought my P95 back in 1997 and love it. It also had the 10 round magazines due to the magazine limit from the Brady bill that has thankfully long since expired. It's a good shooter. I can hit what I'm pointing it at and got pretty good using it. I did like the stippling on the newer models and would like to find one of those. I had an ejection issue a few years back. The gun used to fling the empties several yards away, but I hadn't fired it in several years, and when I pulled it out again, it only dropped the empties a few feet from me. I called Ruger and they had me send the gun in. They replaced the ejector for me for free and returned it to me.

I LOVE my P95DC! Piss on Glock. I love Ruger firearms, pistols and long guns alike. People have urged me to upgrade to a newer, fancier handgun, but that old P95 just feels right in my hand, and still shoots as true as the day I bought it.. I've had very few feeding issues over the years, and ALL of the FTF's were because of a faulty mag, not the gun. If you come across one of these, snag it quickly! You'll never regret it.

I bought mine in the late 90's and it's the gun that goes with us when we travel and the one that's ready for home defense. It came with the 10 round magazines but several larger capacities have been bought since then. I also stippled the front and the back of the grip with a soldering iron to help with a good purchase when your hands are wet.

I have had mine since 2002 and zero hiccups. I did put a rubber grip on it, but this gun is my favorite out of all my firearms. I bought it new and it feels like an extension of me. I have fired it in multiple environments and like a Timex it just keeps ticking. Also, I like the single double actions.

I bought the Ruger P95 back in the late 90s when I was going through reserve police officer training. Shortly after I bought a Smith and Wesson Sigma. The Sigma is a copy of a Glock and worked better for me to get my first shot off quickly during training/qualifying. The long first trigger pull followed by sort single action trigger didn't work as good for me as a striker fired pistol where every trigger pull is the same consistent pull. Most others in my class had striker fired action and I remember usually being the last to get all my shots off because it took me longer to get the first shot off with that long double action trigger. Then be ready for a short pull on the next shots. It was very chunky in the hand but was always reliable and I still enjoy shooting it to this day at the range.

Whats very interesting is that this pistol is a slide in frame, supposedly like a CZ although it doesn't look it. The biggest flaw is the bore axis is on the high side and I don't care for the mag release configuration. With all in all this pistol can be pretty accurate, is Ruger reliable, and over built, and is very safe. Plus like the gentleman said in the video, you can find one in a pawn shop for beans. I bought mine at a pawn shop with 3 stainless mags, in un-fired condition, in the box for 200 bucks out the door. They are sort of like the Smith model 59's, not for concealment but a dern good night stand defensive pistol.

I sold a new RV to a Ruger employee, the P95 DC was just out back then, I asked him to build me one and he did..he worked on two and picked the best gun and sold it to me. I still have it, it's like new still. The trigger pull takes some getting used to.
@oneeyedpatriot10 жыл бұрын
I had one that looked almost identical to that one. Sadly, it was stolen from my hotel room one time. Mine was purchased during the ban and my mags were 10 rounders. I have two mags that they did not steal that I saved just in case I come across another at a future pawn shop. They are a little boxy but very reliable and nice to have around. Thanks. Nice find.

I inherited a P85 a few years ago that is about 24 years old. It's bulky, ugly, but like you say built like a tank and it is very reliable. I intentionally tried to see if it would jamb by loading up a couple of mags with hollow points, ball, different grain ammo, all in the same mag and it ran them all through flawlessly.

Love my p95dc safety model. Low recoil for a 9mm, 2 stage trigger in sa, accurate, solid, eats anything. Sticky for the first few hundred rounds with FTEs and feeding problems. A liberal amount of white lithium grease on the rails, the hammer face, and the outside of the barrel and chamber cured it. Runs just fine now.

First great video. I've been the happy owner of a P95DC since they first came out. I paid 2 1/2. I guess the distributor wanted to move his inventory. I almost paid for two. Now I kick my own behind for not owning a second one. Well I do plan on buying a second 9mil pistol. Haven't made my mind up yet. I liked that ruger has other firearm models in which the magazines are interchangeable. I wouldn't mind owning a camp 9 carbine. I recently bought a pro mag Beretta magazine that was on clearance and was able to mod. It to accept my ruger P95DC pistol. I plan to post a video in the future so that this can benefit our shooting community. With the current situation around the world and the people that hate Americans I urge everyone to be vigilant of your surroundings report all suspicious activities. Get out there visit your local shooting ranges support them financially so that we can have a place to practice and our future family members can also practice. Show them how to safely maintain and store firearms and when your children are of age please show them how to safely operate the firearms so that they can protect themselves and their families. God bless everyone. Be safe. The future is in your hands.

I bought mine just after 9/11. Only jammed once…before I knew the value of buying better quality ammo. It’s a great gun. I didn’t like the bulk of it at first but it has trade offs-particularly it’s very easy to reload single handed. There are certainly better models that can “disappear” when carrying, but I’m hot all that concerned with hiding it. The polymer grips are a bit fat and smooth, but not a deal breaker for me. The P95 is a great example of a solid reliable gun at a fair price.

Have been looking for another P95, or even a P89, but they are getting to be VERY hard to find, impossible for me, so far. Last one I saw was at an auction, and I quit bidding at $450. Single actions was much better. I love that decocker, it should be on all hammer strike pistols. It also gives me leverage to rack the slide as my grip is weak. i know I need to run more ammo through it to get better using it. I bought mainly for the hammer strike.

You need to put a little grease on the slide rails when shooting the weaker factory loaded ammo. I use the lucas red "n" tacky #2 from walmart. On everything else I use mineral oil from walmart too. You find the mineral oil near the pepto bismol and you find the grease in the auto section. The #1 ingredient in gun oil is mineral oil anyway. Buying a 16 oz bottle of regular mineral oil for $2 is a lot cheaper than buying a tiny 4 oz bottle of gun oil for $5. Those P series pistols function best with hotter loaded ammo like the 9mm nato stuff or +p loaded regular ammo. If you like the P series pistols look into getting a Ruger PC9 carbine because it uses the same magazines. I have two of them and they are very accurate and reliable. There's no better companion to a P series handgun than a P series carbine. They are rare so you probably wont find one in a local store. I bought both on mine on gunbroker. They look like a Ruger 10/22 except they are 9mm.

I prefer the aluminum alloy frame myself. The balance is great, though it sure is not light; bulky and you can feel the action working during firing with a big cachunk. The magazine release is really nice. You can push down like most, but it actually slides forward, and is ambidextrous. My favorite version was the P85 DC, black slide and the greenish gray frame.

There are just some guns that become classics and this is one of them, right along with my Colt 45 ACP Government Model Series 70, and my S&W 4" Model 19 357 Mag., and my 30-06 1903 A3 rifle. Somethings just never lose their luster; classic firearms are one of them.

@@josephbarard4172... I too bought my P89DC at Oshmans in Fort Worth circa 1992. Maybe put 200 rounds through it in the first 25 years! Now have recently taken up shooting as a hobby and round count is near 1000... A wonderful keeper and am so glad I picked one up years ago...

I would pick the P85 over the P95. The difference is the frame, as you mentioned in your video.

I carried the 1911 .45 in the Army, and liked the p90 when I got out because it 'felt' like the 1911. I'm looking for a gun now...

i like the streamlined design . not to many ridges and slide serations and considerable slimmer than current polymer guns. i wouldnt mind if decocker is not ambidextrous

This pistol is great......if you want one in .45 try the P345 ! Slide runs on the polymer frame.....no metal rails on these two pistols....self lubrication.....old tech....but they run forever

looks like a good gun , perhaps overbuilt. but that is a good thing. this gun would last several generations
