Did you see the Mr. GunsNGear review of this firearm. He had the same problem. The screw that affixes the optic to the slide on the side of the slide stop spring interferes with this. He shortened the screw and the problem disappeared according to his tests. You might want to try that correction.

It will go down in history as one of if not the best pistol reliability designs ever created. Glock Gen 4 and 5 aren't improvements.... Glock had to do all that to keep people happy and make something a little new is all....but they didn't do that either. You really think in 10-20 years we'll look back in history and say boy those Gen 4 and Gen 5 Glocks were the best....lol hellno

I watched a torture test on this where they put a lot of dirt on it a threw it in the ground quite a few times and it ran. They were both right handed and only used the slide stop to chamber a round. I guess Ruger designed a right hand only gun that requires only chambering with the slide stop.

Anyone that says you shouldn't use the front of the slide to rack a pistol are typically the type of people who don't actually train with their firearm. If you run an optic, it's the most practical method. I don't even run an optic, but it's still how I chamber a round. It's faster to get my support hand in position if I'm racking from the front. Although the gun has some quirks, I think it's a good deal for the price. I believe this, the Echelon and the MR920 are the only striker fired pistols that utilize a universal optic mounting system. Pretty neat stuff. Great review, Nick!

I buy quality optics so im not affraid to use my optic to rack the slide. I shoots on average 500 rounds a week and dont use the front of the slide to rack because i train to shoot and do shoot all diffrent types of pistols. Not all of my guns have front slide serations. Furthernore it makes more sense to either use the optic or the rear of the slide because you are pulling the slide back with the most amount of force possible, ensuring the gun goes into battery.

It will interesting to see if this is something that happens often enough to register as a problem from a sales/production point of view. If it is one of those thing that happens 1 out of every 1000, do they do any changes? I still think it needs a year to see what is what. The design, overall, is tried and true, so I don't assume it will be an unreliable pistol from the point of pulling the trigger and firing. Now we have to find out if it has some strange issues or other unexpected problems. They are going back to the gen 3 design because it is now public. Saves money on R&D which lowers the price of the gun. When the gen 4 design goes public, the same thing will happen.

Glad you found a near-term fix to make the gun run with some reliability. It's curious why Ruger didn't just make that part different and shift from 90% glock gen3 compatible to 87% glock gen3 compatible, but your point on chasing a 30 year old design is sound. I like the idea of fire control units, I just wish brands beyond Sig had any real support - I don't care for the 365, and there's no way in hell I'm putting a 320 in my pants. Which is why I had high hopes for this pistol...
