There's nothing I don't like about this gun. I was looking at the Glock 19 but came across this one from Ruger. I Paid $299. For basically half the price I have a gun that has proven to be rock solid reliable. At this point I must have about 1500 rounds through it. No failures of any kind. Dead on accurate as long as I'm doing my part, but with any gun you have to do your part. I know many will disagree but one of the features that attracted me to this gun over the Glock was the manual safety, a feature I insist upon. And now they've introduced factory 17 round mags. I bought four and they've proven to be as reliable as the 15 rounders and look like they belong there. Along with my S&W Shield 9 this has become one of my two EDC guns. I would not hesitate to buy this again.

You did good, I like the safety trigger and manual safety too. Me and my two buddies bought the Ruger Security 380 light rack. It’s an amazing weapon. Check it out $318 taxes and background check.

I got mine for $349, but it came with a laser sight pre-installed. Love it, but with the laser, your choice of holster will be limited. I did find an ITW holster specifically made for security 9 with laser on Amazon for $40. Not the best holster, but for the price, it works just fine at the 3 o'clock position. Appendix carry with this gun is just too uncomfortable for me, and I don't have a fat belly.

I love mine! They have a 17 round mag like Thomas said And I have a baseplate extension on mine plus 3. I have over 2000 rounds through mine and it's great! I love it, it's my favorite gun and have a lot of guns.

Security 9 is my first gun, and I love it. My friends I shot with today were all really impressed by it. It is extremely comfortable in my hand, and of everything I held, it was the only thing I could reach all the controls one handed, and I have pretty small hands. I’m extremely happy with my purchase.

I love mine, fits Glock 19 holsters and just an amazing gun under 400 bucks. You talk about how chunky it is yet it's slimmer than the Glock 19 in every single dimension. Great video as always, I have 2k guns and somehow always have this one at my appendix.

I have larger-ish hands so i love the grip, my Pro Model takes off the unnecessary safety which is nice because it’s double action anyways. Plus the night sights are perfect because this is a nightstand gun for me (gives a 3rd mag too), everyday carry is still the G27 for now but this is a great G19 clone option for much less mulah.

I've had one for about 2 months and it's great, about 500 rounds into it so far. The manual safety needs to be exercised a few dozen times to loosen it up, and then it's really usable. Certainly too tight out of the box.

I have large to extra large hands and have none of the issues about the sizing of the grip, I specifically went with this gun over the smaller sister guns. This one I get my middle, ring and half a pinky on the grip, so for me, in a “compact” size class that is unusual as my pinky is usually free floating. I personally love the feel of the pistol in my hand. Large handed folks as you said will not have any of the issues for the feel.

Bought a Canik tp9sf elite for $399. For $20 more than the Security 9 you get Warren tactical sights, match grade barrel, tenifer finish, a much better trigger, adjustable back straps, and a hard gun case. No brainer, Canik is way better.

I was lucky enough to get both and they are both great guns. I love them both but nothing can beat the enjoyment of shooting the tp9sf elite. Overall if you can get lucky enough and have the funds go with a canik tp9sf elite. BUT you won’t be all that disappointed with going with the security 9 as a budget carry/self defense. Got my tp9 for $412 compared to $365 for the security 9.

My first ever pistol that I purchased almost one year ago. Absolutely love the Ruger security nine. It’s a very good basic general purpose pistol for home defense here in my restricted state. I put high viz. fiber optic sights on it, A Talon grip, and I actually put a low profile aluminum flat face trigger. The gun is wonderful and I’m really pleased with the purchase that I made. Budget friendly and quality. What more could you ask for for a first time gun owner?

@@ConcealedCarryChannel honestly my biggest issue is finding aftermarket upgrades for my gun. But if I'm being completely honest. It really doesn't need much upgrading. I want a better slide spring assembly. I have not found anything in regards to this. Wouldn't mind having a replacement slide with RDO ready milling but nothing like that either. Not that I've found. Maybe a better trigger spring to lessen the weight of the trigger. It's right at 5 pounds so it isn't bad at all. By any means. I'm just spit-balling here.

Most people that review it have an issue with the slide release and say you need three hands to pull out the serialized (gun) trigger assembly. I had zero issues with either. The slide release was a wee bit tight at first but it's very simple now.

Well done video. Appreciate the details. One thing, you said put a thousand rounds down range before spending $100 on an aftermarket trigger. In the current market that’s gonna cost you $500-750 for ammo. Id say just buy the damn trigger!

I have this in gun in the compact. I had a private sitting. 10 pistols were on the table but not this one. This one fit my hand the best. I have gotten used to it. I tried the M&P ez series but not a good fit.

I've owned one since they came out. I don't carry it, I carry a Shield PC. The Ruger is my more finicky. It does not always extract right with mixed ammo. It really hates IMI ammo, 2 extraction failures in the first 25 rounds. I think if they did a Gen 2 it'd clear up a lot of the issues. But they don't really do that at Ruger. It's the only gun I have that when you shake it, it rattles and clatters. The only one I can see through the gap in the frame and slide. The frame being so much wider then the slide gives it a cheap appearance. Like they put the slide on the wrong frame, but ran with it anyway. It has some weird oddities. But it mostly works. And it's a fine truck gun, coffee table gun. And it always goes bang. It just may not extract properly with some ammo.

I wasn't sure after seeing the spiked hair. I was even less sure after seeing the bracelets. You almost lost me on the banana with a handle assessment (wtf? I've never seen a straight banana) Then, I was definitely going to stop watching when you loved the natural feeling grip angle, then immediately talked about some strange knuckle issue and how weird it made it feel in your hand? For some reason I watched the rest and was strangely entertained. This is a solid self defense gun for a reasonable price, which is ruger's trademark. No reason to buy an overpriced gun when this one will do what I need, feels great, and looks great.
