Great basic tips. Setting 3 though should be used sparingly depending upon the ammo used as it's harsh with the most gas being allowed to cycle the action. Ideally setting 1 for suppressor use and setting 2 for unsuppressed use. Have been playing with mine since early fall last year and it's been a lot of trial and error. Put out a number of videos on my journey with this rifle, but finally got it running the way it should. Ruger C.S. was awesome to deal with as well.

I had top safety award points at our company Christmas party and Won the SFAR in .308. It was set to gas setting 3 out of the box. Took it out today and mounted a Sightmark Wraith on top. On setting three I noticed some extractor marks on the brass. Turned it down to 2 and it ran fine. Seven shots playing with the Zero to get it on the money at 100 yards. Long story short version Both the SFAR and the Sightmark ARE Tack Drivers! I Am well pleased with the rifle and scope. Taking it deer hunting tomorrow.

Ruger sent me a new gas regular,, and a little advise for anyone else having problems.. Update the regulator , they will send you one free,, easy,,, number two disassemble the gun and slightly oil the entire thing,,, Fix all the problems I was encountering. They are shipped a little dry and need to have some oil on all the parts inside,, don't slather the whole thing just do a good oil job.. It helps 100 percent.. ( I learned this from a TM22) which I bought and it was DRY inside ( just kind of Greece) it did the same thing as the Ruger ( would eject shells, wouldn't fire, would n't feed) cleaning an oiling thing from the factory is a good idea, 100% improvement on both !!

20" 308, Gas Setting 3, several hundred rounds without a failure. Haven't looked the brass over yet but I'll get to that on the next range trip. Really digging the two stage trigger. Love the rifle but my shoulder is taking a beating. Any ideas on finding a better butt pad that fits on the existing magpul stock?

I’ve never even looked at mine. It runs. I see some folks turning it like it’s a radio dial then complaining bout it don’t work. 🤷‍♂️

That’s cause you only use it like a casual. 20 rounds shot a year for you probably… This is for the people that run suppressed, or want thier rifle to do better then factory standards.

Can one add this adjustable gas block to a ruger mpr ar15 as well?

Maybe someone can answer this, why is the buffer spring, so damn heavy? I have other ar10s and it doesn’t feel like I’m dragging a Buick through the rifle when I go to chamber a a round.
@loganwgriffith
@loganwgriffith 2 ай бұрын
I'm not sure. The heavier the buffer, the more recoil it absorbs? Shoot a few rounds out of all your AR10s, with the SFAR being fired between each different AR, see if there is a pattern.

@ i put a spring from my assorted ar15 springs in it just to get it to cycle reliably, its definitely not a shtf rifle. i run mostly m80 ball ammo and the brass never goes in the same spot for long, its a pretty wonky setup right out of the box.

Needs a 10 position gas block. Then you can fine tune. 3 is NOT ENOUGH

Heard some wild stories about this weapons performance. I bought mine about 3 months ago. Running it on Setting 3. 580 rounds of 147g igmans 308 with 2 failures to extract during break in and the muzzle brake loosened around 400. Did some 300 meter shots, fast target shooting, about 3 mag dumps in a row with one cleaning at 200rds. Just lube since. I have no complaints so far. Cant wait to try it supressed.

@@tehclefty5317 no problem, man seems like I’m not the only one who had issues with this rifle. I’m running a suppressor on it, and if you are too it’ll be best ran on 1. I’m pretty sure the dude on the video said that too.

@@NoSlack- I tested my 20 inch with my AAC Ranger 7, with expensive subsonic 308. It doesn’t cycle of course, but it felt good & quiet. I haven’t tested the different settings for normal 308 ammo though.

Mine had the same problem. Headspace was off. My gunsmith "drilled" it to correct specs. Haven't had problems with ammo getting stock in the chamber since. Problem solved.. Still doesn't run on 2 without FTE and even on setting 3 I get FTE every now and then.

Discontinue these FFS. They run like absolute trash without an aftermarket gas block.

Mine was the worst firearm I have ever purchased. This rifle needs so much more than more gas settings. Mine went back to Ruger 4 times with no solution. Gas problems, headspace problems, bcg problems. Wasted so much money and time on it.

Same. This and the PC9( constant failure to extract or feed reliably despite replacing the extractor/springs, twice and the bolt face retaining pins.) has encouraged me to pass on future Ruger offerings. The wear pattern on the PC9's bolt/bolt face is horrendous and it looks like it was machined out of cheese. Both platforms have been back to Ruger twice, and if anything they are even less reliable. Gathering dust in the safe now. I would never trust them and spending the energy and cash on them just stings. Says a lot about their QC and just how much they care about you being a return customer.

@@middleagedbaldguy6774 The customer service was terrible. They took it back every time, but were dishonest with what the problems were and did not make an effort to correct the problem. It has definitely pushed me away from any future Ruger products

Worst gun ever. I've had 3 of them and Ruger couldn't fix the issues and kept lying to me about it. The main one is their chamber reamers are out of spec and don't have enough clearance for the case mouth. Every round chambered gets pinched where the casing ends . The other big issue is the gas port drilled in the barrel is gigantic. I wonder how many have to blow up before they start caring about their customers?
