My Wrangler seems to be way off on it's sights. Another words I believe I'll have to learn to compensate my point of aim. This may be typical for a revolver such as the Wrangler. I agree it's fun to shoot if you can figure out where to hold it to hit your target. I've only put around 200 rds through it and I have to hold point of aim about 2 inches low in order to hit what I'm aiming at.

Every revolver gets a buildup of debris above the forcing cone, and 22 rimfire ammo is fairly dirty. Almost every revolver will have the drag marks around the cylinder, and this one raises the locking bar against the cylinder as soon as you close the loading gate, so it will drag against the cylinder till it locks in place. I've shot pistols in competition for over 50 years, I used to shoot a custom S&W revolver in PPC matches, and in match season would fire 800 to 1,000 rounds a week just in practice, and lead wadcutter bullets are incredibly dirty, so when I wasn't shooting, I was either cleaning my gun or reloading! LOL 😄

Very nice revolver. I've had an original GP100 in stainless steel with a 4-inch carry Barrel since 1990 when they first came out. I am a huge Ruger fan when it comes to wheel guns. Thank you very much for sharing. The black soot that you're getting around the cylinder cartridge holes can be a direct result from using low pressure 22 ammunition and it not expanding the case enough to keep that sort from crawling back around the cartridge and getting the cylinder face where you loaded nasty. Try using CCI Mini Mags and that should cut back on that problem quite a bit. The cylinder where that you're getting from its spinning on the lower locking lug is absolutely normal with all revolvers. Echo

I have four Wranglers and all have the same finish wear yours does. I sent my first one back to Ruger and they re-coated it but the wear came back Very quickly so I think that's just one of their quirks. Also quick turn around by the way. I had another with the chambers very roughly machined with proud metal interfering with cylinder rotation. Ruger sent me a new cylinder within a few days. All four of mine are picky about ammo and will tumble bullets with some brands. Accuracy is just 'so-so'..good enough for Cowboy action shooting. Lastly, 3 of the four have very stiff loading gates that have not improved over time and thousands of rounds. They are ok for what they are not great. Just ok.

Always wondered why more guns aren't powdercoated. I worked at a place once where one of the engineer powdrecoated his Winchester 94. Came out pretty good actually, by today's finishing standards anyway.

@NLINE72 жыл бұрын
My question, is the cylinder painted or is it suppose to be blued? Reason for that question is on my Ruger Wrangler the front or maybe the face of the cylinder the finish is pretty much all gone only after 200 rds. Its down to bare metal. Out in the field while shooting it I thought it was just a build up of powder until I got it home and cleaned it and realized hey the finish is gone. That build up around where the barrel mates to the frame on mine was a bear to remove and I've still not got it all removed. It looks as if the build up welded it's self to the frame, super hard to remove even with a nylon brush. I've been around guns along time and never experienced anything like that. I have already had to send my Wrangler back to Ruger when I first got it for them to replace the hammer. The hammer on mine was slightly bent to the left to the point it was starting to gouge into the left side of frame right across from the firing pin. Ruger fixed it and they had the gun for about 3 weeks fixing that problem. It kinda blows my mind that now the cylinder face finish is about 80--90% gone after only 200 rds shooting the Wrangler that I have. Believe I'll give Ruger another call soon.
@johnshandloading79072 жыл бұрын
Yes it is a bluing of some type on the cylinder and not cerakote or dura kote. It does get worn off. The buildup on the top strap does get 'welded' just like you said, that is why I pointed it out. Not easy to clean off even with a popsicle stick or such tool. I understand your feelings. Good luck. Ruger does seem to have great customer service.

Mine iss a month old now. After shooting several brands of ammo I experienced the cylinder binding. This was only with Remington and only some out of the same box. Like I said with other ammo it shoots perfectly. THANKS.

No offence taken. Like I said in the video, it was a generic target standing plinking. No precision involved whatsoever. It is definitely NOT a browning medalist.
