Wow! I've watched sooo many Ruggable reviews. Yours is very underrated as the most concise, yet thorough review of them all that hit on a lot of major points: fading, corner curling, fraying, washability, pile, piling, etc. I also appreciated your take on the curling and advising to re-orient the rug. Curling is a huge complaint amongst many reviewers, so it's good to know it just takes alittle extra time to avoid that issue. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this review. You've gained a new subscriber. I have 7 Ruggables in my cart and I think I'm ready to hit "checkout" after this review. I'm excited! The fading is somewhat disappointing to hear after 9 months and 5 washes, but I feel like I can overlook that due to having 2 boys and a future puppy in our household. Washability with our allergies is the #1 concern of mine. Questions: What kind of detergent do you use? I am a chem free person so I use castile soap to wash clothes. I've heard that a cup of vinegar during every wash not only is a safe alternative to fabric softener, but will aid in color retention. Thoughts? Also, what do you think of double-sided rug to carpet tape? We live in a rental and I wish I heard of Ruggables years ago because it would have saved these cheap carpets. The shampooers I've used are no match for the few large stains we have... (One of which is coffee - there goes my security deposit lol). So I'm wondering whether or not the tape would result in a sticky residue on the black Ruggable pad? Thanks again!

Hi! Thank you so much for your kind words! I am not sure about the carpet tape, my Ruggable is on hardwood and large enough that it stays in place just fine, but the rug pad is a rubberish material, so it's completely possible that you won't get any residue, especially if you get a tape brand that is 'residue free'. I use Dropps laundry pods for my all laundry needs, including the Ruggable. It's mild enough that it works great (and also plant-based, no harsh chemicals)! I am not sure about the vinegar. If you try it and it makes a difference, I'd love for you to let me know! I'm so excited for you! I hope you'll enjoy your rugs as much as I do! With little ones and dogs, it really has been such a sanity saver! 🤣

As you might have noticed in the video, one of our dogs only has three legs. This is one of the reasons that rugs are so important in our home. He doesn't do well on slippery floors!

Make sure you use very gentle laundry soap. Yours may have optical brighteners and that will cause some fading. Maybe try Woolite for dark colors.

Thank you so much for this review. I've been looking into getting one for the living room. My dogs are getting older and they are starting to slip when they get off the couches so I want to put a rug down. This sounds like it would be perfect for my home. I'm heading to the website now. :)

You are doing the install of the rug onto the pad .... wrong. Lay the pad out flat on the floor. Lay the rug out somewhere else, like on the living room floor or your bed. Face up. Now roll the rug up like it came when it was shipped to you. Start at one end of the pad and line up the edge of the rug to the pad. Now back up and let the rug roll out over top of the pad. You spent way too much time fighting this rug.

Oh, that’s the one I’m thinking of getting ! 🙂 My room is painted in Farrow & Ball Inchyra Blue. Would the blue in the rug colour match? And would an ordinary non-slip rug backing sheet be okay instead of the pad? Thank you x

Does the pad ruin or stain hardwood floors? Please answer as I’d like to try one but that’s holding me back.

The washable rug ads never mention the pad is not washable. So what do you do when pet urine seeps into the pad? For my 8x10 rug pad I had to take it outside to the driveway, squirt it off with soap and water, let it air dry, then sweep the underside that had driveway dirt/grass on it. During the winter I had to squirt it in my shower and hang it across my tub and shower causing creases and bumps in the pad. TERRIBLE and I would NOT purchase again!!!

Can you use the rug without the pad? I’m not sure if I want to deal with the Velcro and my floor is not slippery at all.
@WasteRectified4 жыл бұрын
Maybe. However, the rug itself is quite thin. I think without the pad to sort of weigh it down, you may find yourself dealing with a lot of bubbling and curling edges.

Have your edges curled?
@WasteRectified5 жыл бұрын
No, I haven't had that issue. Sometimes the corners curl a bit right after washing it but they lay down eventually. I do get bubbling on the edges occasionally, but I can fix it by reattaching the rug to the pad.

Are these rugs Soft?
@WasteRectified4 жыл бұрын
I think so. Definitely smooth and easy to brush you hand across, but maybe not soft enough that I’d snuggle up on it. 😆
