I got back into Yugioh back in March, probably after closer to 15 years, barring the odd game here and there. Since then, I've suddenly been noticing Yugioh stuff everywhere and lots of other people getting back into it too, is Yugioh having a bit of a revival right now? In any case, it's so awesome to see that so many people still love this franchise and are coming back to it!
@Ruggles1175 жыл бұрын
That's pretty promising to hear. Glad you're also having a solid experience back and are noticing a strong presence. It looks like all of those extra summoning mechanics weren't bad for the game after all :)

Duel links also might have reminded some people of yugioh (including me) :)
@Alino-4 жыл бұрын
I recently got into Yugioh as well. I watched the show while growing up (I'm 19, turn 20 in december.), and a few years back stumbled upon Yugioh Abridged, which, while hilarious, had me looking into playing the actual game. There's no groups locally, so I play online, but I've been working on buying my main deck of choice, Black Luster Soldier! (I know it's not meta or even all that good, cause rituals are... special. But damn it's so much fun when it works) I think Yugioh is having a revival, simply because a lot of the kids who grew up with it are in my age range (I'd say between ages 17 and 25 or so currently), so they're at the age where they can actually afford to play the game AND also understand the rules, and it also helps that Yugioh as a whole has been getting more popularity on youtube and such as of late. (I mean, Yugioh abridged, all these various new youtubers, Dark Side Of Dimensions, and also the new series coming in 2020)
@Ruggles1174 жыл бұрын
@@Alino- That's awesome to hear man and I appreciate how you're sticking with the BLS despite it not being meta. Whatever makes the game fun, right. Before quieting I would always try to make a Hungry Burger deck work just because I loved the art and I thought it was a lot of fun. I also agree with you're thoughts on the resurgence. The numbers on KZbin are neat lens to look at it through for sure.
@Alino-4 жыл бұрын
@@Ruggles117 Yeah, I've tried other decks as well. Ritual Monsters just happen to be my favorite 'type' of monster, and BLS was my favorite creature in the original cartoon. So I've been working... very hard on getting it to work.The biggest issue is that when a Ritual deck bricks, it bricks really hard. Now, if I were going to play more competitively... man, that's tough to decide, but I'd probably do a Pendulum deck, those things are sweet once you learn how they work. And man, I pulled a hungry burger from a pack I bought recently, it made me laugh way too hard. And I'm looking forward to seeing this channel grow! You should consider during other videos in addition to this series, it'd be neat to watch full duels of yours, whether they be online ones or real-life tournaments/games. Keep up the great work on content! And also, one last thing (sorry for the long response), if you'd like to see my current BLS deck list, I can share it here in the comments.

Feels great to see another person with a history with this game return and relearn it, and see how it has changed since the old days lol I myself got back into the game back in February and, at the time, I didn’t know what I wanted to play. I followed a lot of deck profiles, bought a lot of structure decks and built stuff to play with. Against my friends, it was different, because I played the counter fairy deck and it was fun as a control style. However, I never faced something crazy like hand traps before, which my cousin and mentor, Dashawn, showed me. Then, I bought the Salamangreat deck and he showed me the basic combos and how the end board looked...I was like “huh??” It was super quick lol Over time and just devoting a lot of time to watching deck profiles, duels, listen to commentary on card choices, researching cards, it was so much fun to try out new strategies. The big archetypes that really pulled me back, Shaddolls, Mekk Knights, and Nekroz. I’ll never forget the two people I saw who showcased these archetypes: Shannon Long and Abraham King. And I gotta say, Nekroz is probably one of my favorite decks to play and I’d love to take it to locals one day...assuming I can find time with my 40+ hour job lol Oh, I did sub to the channel and I will be watching more of your videos. Great clips of your duels, how you spent time researching and play testing, and hearing your perspective on things. Looking forward to seeing this channel grow!

I loved this. This video really shows how managable it is to get back into the game when you feel motivated and aren't just tunnelvisioning on the older states of the game "I hate this, I hate that, this isnt real yugioh" subscribed immediately, I'm excited for more!

Great point, I feel like Yu-Gi-Oh and really most things are best experienced with a little optimism and an open mind. As a massive fan of the classic chaos and goat formats I have to say I'm really enjoying both pendulum and link summoning. They all work well together IMO

@@Ruggles117 I think so too, I for one just jumped into the game with no knowledge of Pendulums and only hearing of Xyz cards from commercials, right as Master Rule 4 was introduced. Needless to say it wasnt fun to see my deck get killed before I ever got the chance to play it properly, but I adapted and learned the rules all at once.
