I remember having the PS1 version of this growing up and being utterly disappointed. Wandering around in an empty theme park, playing (losing) bad mini games and having no story line pretty much sums it up.

I finished this game when I was a kid and the Reptar Vs Robosnail fight is the definitely the Best part of this game, although I don't blame you having to grind for those golden tickets was exhausting lol. I believe the part I struggled with the most was the miniature golf part.
@drewbarton1963 жыл бұрын
As for the PC version, EuroReptarLand is far more visually interesting there than the console and handheld and the Rugrats have way more dialog. As for the mini games, there nothing special. Also, the developers change the story from Chuckie wanting a new mommy to rescuing his teddy bear from Coco and her henchman.

The game felt a little disturbing and uneasy I remember because of how barren the in game world was. There wasn't any NPCS more or less, it was like a twilight zone not a breathing world.

So I finished watching it. Yep, the PS1/N64 game sucks, and I still think you're being too kind on it. On the contrary, I have to legit disagree on the GBC version. Once again, it's not a great game but I found it far more enjoyable than the previous handheld games. The camera feels so much better in this one and being able to move it up or down and move your character at the same time makes it feel far less clunky. They also got rid of the "lose an item everytime you get hit" mechanic that only served to bog down the pace before. It's also the shortest of the three games, which does make it worth less the money it would have cost to buy, but I'd rather have a short but decently fun game over two frustrating experiences that drag longer than necessary. Kudos to the extra gameplay variety.

I have to agree with on this games terrible controls. I picked up this game at like a local store to my area about 2 years ago, and I think I managed to get like 30 minutes into it before I just had to stop playing it entirely. I'm also super excited for the rest of your reviews!

I remember having a lot of fun with this game as a kid, but I also was a huge fan of Rugrats so I think I liked anything that had to do with them. However, I distinctly recall that sometimes there would be one of the other babies waiting in the storage room where the giant Reptar mech is. If you got them something from the gift shop (a specific item they'd ask you for), I'm like 99% positive they'd give a gold ticket as a reward. I think you could also get gold tickets by completing the puzzle challenges, which required buying puzzle pieces from the gift shop to unlock those games (they'd be spots on the ground like with the telescope). But I could be misremembering things.

Before I start watching this video, let me offer my perspective. This was my first experience with a Rugrats game, and I initially had it on Nintendo 64 before I sold it. I remember initially finding this game to be extremely boring and overall disappointing. Two years ago, I got a new copy for PS1 and gave it a second shot to see if I could get into it. The good news is that it wasn't as bad as I remember it being. The bad news is that it was MUCH WORSE! I saw on Twitter you briefly mentioned how awful this game is, and I still think you're being far too kind on this piece of shit. To anyone who wants to give this game a shot for some reason I can't fathom other than being a die-hard Rugrats fan, for the love of God don't pick any of the difficulties aside from the lowest. The higher difficulties do nothing except force you to collect more golden tickets; making the game longer instead of harder. I say this because two years ago, I put myself to the challenge of playing and completing this game on the highest difficulty setting. What I found in the process was one of the most tedious, frustrating, meandering, fatiguing, miserable, and downright worst experiences I had with any video game I've ever played. Rugrats In Paris on PS1 is not your typical everyday licensed shovelware where it's just mediocre or poor, instead it is a special kind of bad. A game I disliked so much that I felt no desire to ever touch it again. Before anyone responds "You're just being too harsh", I like Bubsy 3D (completed it twice and thinking of doing it again soon after completing Spyro 3 for the 20th time). That should tell you how horrendous this game is. When playing on the higher difficulties, one of the ways of making the game longer and harder is by forcing you to do legit perfect playthroughs of almost all of the minigames you've already completed normally. Imagine if Crash 3 forced you to get the platinum time relics just to get the secret ending? It's kind of that, but in a game for babies. Getting near perfect scores in most of these minigames was thoroughly unenjoyable, because not only were the minigames frequently dull, boring and uninteresting to play, they were also way too unreasonable with the skill set necessary to get these tickets. There are 27 gold tickets in the game, and the highest difficulty only asks for 26, which I'm massively grateful for because the bowling minigame is literally impossible to do perfectly. The control there is imprecise and overly sensitive, and there's no way of telling what angle you're pointing before you make the shot. Couple that with the unreachable high score for the ticket, and you have a package that shows clear signs of "rushed out the door." I especially hated the minigame with the frog due to how well it triggers my phobia of hearing buzzing insects like bees and wasps. If there's anything this game has warranting of praise, it does look and sound good for a PS1 game, and the tank control scheme is a lot better implemented on the analog stick than what you see in the Tomb Raider and Resident Evil games where they just slap the digital control on it and nothing else. These positives don't mean much in the end, because the overall gameplay and content surpasses any definition or interpretation of mentally painful. Who was this game made for? Kids will only get angry at the high difficulty, and adults will only be put to sleep by the boring and overly simplistic design. This game is soul-draining levels of rancid; genuinely one of the worst games I've ever sat through from start to finish. So upsetting because I loved the movie; it's easily one of the best Nickelodeon films I've watched, and Kimi, Kira & Fifi were very solid additions to the cast. This film deserved so much better; would have much preferred something akin to Studio Tour but on a bigger scale.

I recommend giving the GBC game a try. They got rid of one major poor design choice from the previous GBC games, and the camera is heavily tweaked to flow much more smoothly with the gameplay. Couple that with the extra gameplay variety, and you have what's easily my favourite Rugrats GBC game.
