Your close-up of mold shows that by the time you can see a small bit of mold on some food, it has already spread over the entire surface but has not multiplied enough for you to actually see it......but it's there!

This reminded me of when I got a magnifying camera that would plug into the TV.. this was at least 15+ years ago.. but I was playing with it and placed it on the carpet and actually saw something crawl around a fiber.. even though the camera said it couldn’t pick up things that small i played around with different lenses and was able to see that bug.. I think it was a dust mite.. but that was insane that I was even able to find one.. I spent weeks trying to find another and couldn’t

I never found a dust mite, but damn that was the best toy I've ever had as a kid, it was so mindblowing to be able to see the world through a (sort of) miscroscopic lense, i also had a legit microscope which I also loved but I preferred the TV magnifying camera because it was easier for my brain to comprehend what I was seeing I guess, if I ever have kids I'm definitely buying them something like this
