I build this diorama of an old ruined tower, that is a functional dice tower as well. In this video you can see how I build it, some of the problems I ran into, and how I painted everything.

Amazing looking tower. The only thing I think you should done different is the hole in the roof. I think you should have made a hole straight through, so you could drop in the dice without having to lift off the roof.

Your tower would look incredible with a small backdrop (my first thought was Starry night style), a bit of stones at the bottom or some moss would add another layer of age. Anyways your tower and process was easy to follow and interesting, thanks for the video! (Edited for a comma lol)

The only problem is is you have to take the top of the castle off to drop the dice down which ruins the effect because you get to see all the cardboard paper tubes toilet paper roll whatever you wanna call it so you should’ve made some type of upper door for the dice to go into and then roll down this way you don’t have to dismantle the castle to use it other than that it looks good
@atelier_AG
@atelier_AG 2 жыл бұрын
I did think about doing something like that, but I figured the door would have to be really big for the dice to fit through. I didn’t want it to be too obvious that it was a dice tower, so that is why I ended up making it like I did.

Nice. The cracking that started on the lower section just adds a little extra decay, accidental perfection. About how long did you invest into creating and painting?
@atelier_AG
@atelier_AG 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! the crack does work with the overall broken down look. I think I spent about 30-40 hours on sculpting and painting combined. I am not sure though, I didn't keep track of time..

How about some LED's that look like torches or lanterns in the windows? Have them light up with a hidden switch or pressure sensitive switches inside so the tumbling dice light them up?...maybe that's going a bit too far. After all, we gather to game, not to watch some player's latest modification/addition/creation/fancy new shiny thing. Then again, maybe some of us show up to flaunt our latest, most expensive "I'm the only person east of the western mountains with THIS! The company hasn't released these yet... I know a guy on the inside, slipped him a $100 and now it's all mine (until the official product release date that is)." What about a cauldron at the top? You know, for boiling oil to repel invaders? Instead of scalding oil, your dice! Tip the pot and out goes a d20 down the tumbler chute. What about a hungry dragon/monster? Have it sitting on a nest. You feed the creature your dice, wait for the dice to settle, pick it up and there you have your dice...eggs in it's nest.

People keep using these words "proof of concept," and they are not using them right. What you built was a prototype, or a proof of design, a proof of concept is to take an untested theory and create something that proves this theory is viable. A proof of concept often branches out and becomes something much larger than what it started as. A PROTOTYPE is just a prebuild of your design to make sure everything is kosher before you finalize it.

I guess you’re right. I studied product design, and we’d use terms like this all the time. Maybe I just mixed them up in my head.
