The blocks collapsing is from the physics mod. Despite it's name, the block physics are not very good and imo, should be used primarily for visuals and the waves. For a physics mod that does "proper" physics, Block Physics Overhaul would be the best, assuming my memory is correct. It makes unsupported blocks fall but is based off block weight, so a building wouldn't break unless you destroyed it's supports. The blocks also fall like sand or gravel, rather than breaking. The mod only works for 1.16.5 though, so you'd have to downgrade down to it

Well you can absolutely tweak everything in the physics mod, so that's not really an issue And yeah, "Block Physics Overhaul" is a great mod though it was quite buggy sometimes Hope it gets ported to never versions tho!

Yeah, physics mod kinda sucks. The fancy ocean "physics" is fun for a bit, but I usually end up disabling basically all the other features cause they break stuff or just lag and crash

The ocean physics mod looks good in showcases, but I imagine it would suck to actually play with it (I've never tried it because it was behind a paywall the last time I checked)

btw, why you dont get the cool tree falling part is because the realistic physics mod (or the one where you get that wonky block breaking effect) has a "collapse blocks" feature where it auto destroys anything above it. You can disable this with f7 or in their config.

This mod pack makes me sad. With no hostile mobs or functional buildings, all there is to do is to slowly succumb to the “realistic” survival mechanics. It makes me appreciate Minecraft’s more silly mechanics like floating blocks.
