Ruining My 1957 Chevy - Family Truckster Conversion

So I had a few days off around Christmas I decided to mess around with my daily driver 57 Chevy.
I get endless criticism for driving this classic in the winter. Figure I'd double down with a little extra flair. Roof rack, trailer mirrors, bumper jack, mud flaps and maybe a few ski's strapped to the roof.
What do you do when it's all strapped together? Careless doughnuts of course.

Shit! I’m 72 years old. I was a little kid in the 1950’s. I just relived our family trip from Northern Minnesota to Mt Rushmore South Dakota in 1957. 2 adults and 4 kids, ages 5 to 10 in a 1953 Chevrolet with everything we needed to assure a good time. I feel the anxiety building watching you recreate this childhood nightmare. I’ll be hitting the melatonin tonight.

@ DD Speed Shop , I would recommend trying those skis when hanging on to a rope behind the car on snowy back roads. Quite normal here in norway a couple of decades ago. We were even trained to do that in the army.

Reminds me of when I was little going to Grandma's house in my Mom's car, a pink (salmon?) 1957 Pontiac, a long long time ago. Five kids, Mom and Dad, luggage for a week, presents, toboggan, three 60 lbs bags of oster shells, tire chains, tool box and my Dad's insulated coveralls. I remember we slipped and slide slot, had a flat tire, had a problem with the fuel and we all smelled like gas... BEST Christmas ever!

Wow, signs of cabin fever already... and it is only the start of winter! I am so jealous. We no longer have empty lots to play on. No more donuts in the snow. Our area has developed to the max. As a teenager, our "truckster" was a 1958 Cadillac, with a similar roof-rack and all. You are bringing back many happy memories, thank you. Happy new year, eh!

You just took an amazing car and somehow managed to make it even better! If I had this car I would drive it every single day as well. So you might as well have anything you may need on your daily outings along for the ride with you. Keep on doing what you do and doing you and just let the haters keep on hating. Nice work Dan... the 55' looks great ! Back in the day... the year I found my 66' ex-drag Chevelle SS sitting out behind a speed shop, I bought the ride (less engine) dropped in a sweet 327ci engine, put on studded snows and blasted around all winter... what a riot ! You can have fun with a classic muscle car in the winter 🙂 A nice winter beater that became my summer (money pit) dream ride ! Love the channel and content and do whatever makes you happy man !

Man this was great. I was laughing so much through this. Other than some holes in the beat-up rear bumper, nothing done that doesn't unbolt. Stuff like this just reinforces the idea that I don't want a shiny, restored perfect tri-five as well. I want one I can take out and do weird stuff like this with the family and make memories that will last forever. And being a tri-five you can restore it again any time you want! You can't tell me that back in the day when these were just cheap used cars, that stuff like this didn't happen and that tons of good times weren't had. Keep it coming, you've probably saved more old cars from scrap than most of your haters will ever dream of saving.
