I have two in my set up. One long run from my rack to my projector. the other shorter run is from my receiver to my NVidia Shield. I'm not a technical person but, I bought the longer cable to overcome HDMI signal problems where regular cables wouldn't transfer signal. The shorter was bought for the higher speed capability.

Im really glad to hear that! I was wondering if it really would handle the speed. I don't have anything that could really put it to the test so thank you for letting us know.

@@FixitFrank Yeah, I tried a long run with a regular good quality cable. That didn't work. It wouldn't pass the signal over 45ft run. And I ended up frying an HDMI port. I am glad I didn't fry the entire board because it's EXPENSIVE! I used the adjacent port with an Amazon Basics HDMI fiber cable that worked pretty well. I tried the RUIPRO because of the speed ratings listed. I have no way of verifying whether it's better and I absolutely don't see a difference in video quality. 🤷🏿♂️ However, I don't have any issues as far as video freezing.

Damaging the HDMI ports is my greatest nightmare. I know people that have tried to put cables the wrong way and instead of thinking inverting them, they go on pushing like crazy until everything goes to hell. Nice review my friend!

Never heard of optical hdmi cables but after a quick Google search, I'm thinking...what will they think of next...lol. Cheers Frank.

Technology still amazes me. Even though I hear about it, seeing it in person is neat. Happy New Year Karl!

Hey Frank, on a different topic, I have been looking for a way to contract you. I have a JVC DLA-X7 projector, I have the 2 red lights steady and the center orange light blinking. I changed the lamp and it is still not working. I don't hear the fans come on when I restart it. Any suggestions?

Can you use these to connect your tv to a sound bar?
@FixitFrank2 жыл бұрын
maybe? It would depend on a few things, like the soundbars audio/video routing but functionally yes you could.It would depend on where your sound is being generated. If its a smart TV and you are watching the youtube app, then you can use the hdmi to feed sound if you TV supports that sort of bidirectional audio. Usually though the soundbar gets audio separately. It can be convoluted. short version, this will work as well as any other HDMI cable, longer version... see above :)
