I confess I had no idea about this album. What I like in the comments on KZbin, in general, is that I get a piece of hope that things are not so shitty as they look (politics etc) and there are quite a few people who (still) appreciate good music.

Freudiana Alan Parsons, Eric Woolfson I was alone in my room Feeling sorry for myself, Call me a prohet of doom I could think of nothing else. I found a Freudian book Gathering dust upon my shelf I thought I'll give it a look Would it hurt or would it help Freudiana, do you want to be somebody? Freudiana, do you want to change the world? I met the Wolfman and the Ratman Anna O. and Little Hans, They were walking on a tightrope I never thought they had a chance. And then a hand reached out to hold them Just before they tumbled down, But I was standing in a quicksand And I could not feel the ground Freudiana, do you want to be somebody? Freudiana, do you want to change the world? I look back and I try to find The part of me that I don't know I won't stop 'til I see the truth There's such a long way to go I saw a picture of a stranger But I didn't understand He had a ring around his finger And something burning in his hand. And I wanted him to teach me And I needed to believe But the shadows that he through me Were intended to decieve. Freudiana, do you want to be somebody? (Freudiana) Freudiana, do you want to change the world? (Freudiana)

Although guest performers are used it was still written by Eric Woolfson and produced by Alan Parsons, so to that extent it's an Alan Parsons Project. Eric wanted to turn the next APP album into a stage musical and got involved in an ill fated collaboration with a guy called Brian Brolly who had been eased out of Really Useful by Andrew Lloyd Webber. It ended in acrimonious litigation and that's why the album isn't now available anywhere. The show was actually put on in Vienna, where I saw it having been sent there as part of Eric's legal team!

No need to be ashamed. This was one of APP's greatest albums, a masterpiece, but it sadly led to the breakup of the band. It's not even credited to APP, simply Freudiana. It was *supposed* to have been the 11th APP album, but that was not to be. Some of us refer to this as APP's lost album, the white album. If you search more deeply, you'll discover there's a "black" version of this album too... made up of all the same tunes but in its original German and sung by the musical's cast members. It's nearly impossible to find in-print however, but you may occasionally get lucky on eBay: ebay.com/itm//152973502026

This was conceived and developed as a stage musical. Eric Wolfson wanted to do for this album what Lloyd Webber had done for his music. The stage version was only ever put on in Vienna, where I saw it as a young lawyer gathering evidence for a legal case that sadly enveloped the whole project and meant that the rights to the music and show could never be exploited. Woolfson was the driving force in APP, no doubt, apart from displaying an exceptional voice, and great ability on arranging music, along those exceptional classical arrangements by Powell. @progmeup2 жыл бұрын
Alan wrote almost all the instrumentals (on Freudiana, he gets a co-writing credit for "Beyond the Pleasure Principle" - due to the fact that it's basically him putting two of Eric's melodies in a blender and coming up with a new track based on those), and came up with the basic ideas for a few sung tracks (Breakdown, Can't Take It With You, You're Gonna Get Your Fingers Burned), but not disputing that Eric was the main writer...

Thanks for posting! I think this is a good thought-provoking album & I enjoy some of the tracks more than others...... "Funny you should say that" is amusing but sadly I cannot hear some of the words! ... 😢 .... "Sects Therapy" is also quite an amusing song (& suited the late Frankie Howerd very well of course)..... "Don't let the moment pass" & "There but for the grace of God" I find quite moving, while the sax near the very end of the album is great!!

The only thing I don't understand is why Mr. Colin Blunstone was not invited to give another great contibution to another Alan Parsons Album. In general this still is a great album. For this reason I bought it years ago on Vinyl; especially because it was also a Double album. No moment of regret I did that purchase.
