this had me eternally fall in love with Sode No Shirayuki back in the day, it stunned me how gloriously beautiful the design just for her sword alone could be. This was like a dream come true to see a fantastically animated Bankai.

Sode No Shirakyuki has always been my favorite zanpakuto because it was labeled the most beautiful and it really was and i always hoped when she got a bankai it would still fit that theme and boy did Kubo deliver It’s easily the best looking in my option and the fact that it’s actually terrifyingly powerful is just par for the course i love Rukia and Sode No Shirayuki

@@boshlovely2002 Sode no Shirayuki became my favorite Zanpakuto the moment Rukia used the Tsugi no Mai: Hakuren the first time, to me it felt like an ice-powered kamehameha and it was glorious. I've always had a thing for ice users in any fantasy context and Rukia and her zanpakuto are easily my favorite.

Bleach is what got me into anime as a kid and Rukia is what made me fall in love with the beauty of ice. My childhood self imagined her Bankai would be exactly like this and was disappointed she was the only reaper who hadn't developed one. Not only did this do the manga pages justice, it also went above and beyond by overlapping the outro music before the fight was officially won, letting even the fans who didnt read the manga know: "this fight is already over, rukia's just showing off" (as she's earned by this point in the series). excellent animation and production!

Hakka no Togame (Sentence of White Mist). A Bankai that instantly snap-freezes the vicinity surrounding Rukia to absolute zero temperature. Everything caught in its radius is turned to pure ice, and all molecular movement comes to an immediate halt. Because of the extreme rate of change in temperature caused by this Bankai, there is literally no room for error in its use. A single misstep is fatal to its user. It's powerful enough to rival Zanka no Tachi, but is equally unforgiving.

It was after this moment and Rukia's later appointment as captain that really made me crave for a arc focused on her alone. The newest arc is 12 years past this which is a perfect timeskip as by that point Rukia will have been able to start bringing out her Bankai's power. Remember that it takes around a decade for a Shinigami's Bankai to truly mature into a useable WMD and even more time to truly bring out a Bankai's full potential, so keep in mind that as impressive as this display was, at this point Rukia's Bankai is a fledgling, which means that she alot of room for growth.

At least Ichigo and Renji had a couple years (for Ichigo like a year and a half due to him having no powers up until 6 months to the FB arc) to train theirs, but everyone else were starting off as complete beginners to their Bankai. Can’t wait to see what Zaraki can do with his, considering not even he could take a small percentage of it without physically breaking
