Thank you, RBarrososj. I've enjoyed doing this mini-series. One more to go! (Then a board wargaming weekend, then a wedding weekend, and then back to RtW3!)

@@RvTWargames We see your passion and knowledge in your videos. There are lot's of videos on youtube on everything (what is really a very good thing) but not so many with a good pedagogical sense (it depends on the subject matter of course), and I'm "binging" all your videos and they are very pedagogic on the subject matter, what is very hard to find. I'm looking forward for your next videos, also on the board wargaming. I didn't knew BCS before seeing your videos and because of them I went to download the rules and I ordered one game to give a try. Excellent contents and work you have here:) and Wish you good health:)

That's really nice to hear. I hope you find the BCS system as fascinating as I do. I'll be playing Arracourt this weekend.

Yes, forward facing guns, and maybe a rear facing torpedo tube to keep the enemy in check when you are trying to run away.

I'd like to add that the battle-maker will create unfair battles as well, if there's not sufficent ships in a region. So you can't just have 3 CLs in a Region where the enemy has a full battle fleet of 12 BBs and 7 BCs and expect none of them to show up, as I learned again today when my 3 CLs + 1 allied CL ran into the whole german High-Seas fleet. luckily it was night, so I traded 2 CLs of mine for one BC of theirs. (though on a small budget losing a new CL doesn't really make killing an old BC feel good, but the game thinks it is.) Also happy to say that I learned from the previous videos already, while I love the game I am just not someone who dives into the numbers, so learning how flooding actually works sure helped. Will not blindly try to run to a friendly port with a flooding ship anymore.
@RvTWargames
@RvTWargames Жыл бұрын
Yes, treat those flooding ships very gently and keep your flagship close enough to manually control it until the flooding is under control. Otherwise the AI will drive them much too fast die the damage control parties. Also Damage Control is a new tactical doctrine worth investing in.

Good job on this series Dickie! I've been watching RTW videos since RTW 1 so I know a fair bit but I think RTW 3 will be the first one I actually buy so it's great to have things explained in detail, especially the hot keys, it would be annoying to have to find all that out the hard way. also, I'm excited for your 1935 series , I hope we can get a repeat of your BB attack on the Italian carriers from your last series!

Can’t wait for this game to come 😎🤩 I see they didn’t use my idea of sound effects or sounds on event/Technology breakthrough pop-ups 😫 New hull design pop-up sound of riveting or welding in the background, Armor breakthrough/upgrade sounds of a metal foundry. When sonar is discovered you get the sonar pulse beep ect 😢

Is there no Sound in the Battle? Or you just turned it down? I mean for example when the guns shoots or so.

There is sound. I do tend to keep it low. It isn't central to the game. You can control it in the Preferences screen.

Thank you for your effort. I would like to get into this naval strategy with ship design. I'm currently hesitating between Rule the Waves 2/3 or Ultimate Admiral Dreadnought. What would you advise a total beginner in this segment to do?
@RvTWargames
@RvTWargames Жыл бұрын
RtW3 is boarder in time and deeper in coverage, with relatively simple play for the Ironclad - Pre-dreadnought - early Dreadnought era (1890 - 1920) and more complex play as in incorporate aircraft post 1920. UAD is much prettier and probably better able to do fantasy ships, but with a much weaker campaign. All round I think RtW3 is better, but if you want highly visual and immersive ship design and ship-to-ship battles green UAD is the better choice.

Technology dilema: I've been playing for around 6 months, currently on campaign #11. Yet to win one. I always set research to 12% about 1/3 high priority, 1/3 medium priority and 1/3 low priority. After a few years I always end up "Behind" on technology with GB & the US, sometimes France all either "Advanced" or "Very Advanced". Please advise how I can remain technologically competitive. Cheers, Leo

Hi Leo. You don't say who you are playing, but several of the countries are hampered in their research efforts by national effects, such as poor education and inconsistent naval policies. These naturally tend to drag down your relative research success. Worse, some countries are hampered by lower economic growth compared to the USA, UK, Germany and Japan. As the gap between rich and poor countries widens the rich countries are, of necessity, have a much bigger 12% of their much bigger budget being spent on research, giving them a big advantage. What you can do as a more backward nation is: - Get an advanced technology ally, who'll be kind to you and share research - Get an advanced technology enemy and set spying to high, to steal their secrets - Build ships in (high technology) foreign shipyards so that you can learn from them - Buy a licence for a better foreign aircraft than yours so that you both get the better aircraft in service and potentially learn from them too - Check your research levels so that you are not putting a high research level on to an area that is already ahead of all your other research areas (ignoring the ones that started later in the game) - Personally, I set research to 50% low, 35% medium and 15% high - not sure if that makes a difference - When you make a research breakthrough, check its research effort. If it's high, turn it to medium, if it is medium, turn it to low - When you get a stalled research message, check its research effort - see if you can turn it up to get it completed (and then turn it down again) - In general, try and favour the research that you have an advantage in, if any Hope that helps, Dickie.

Thanks Dickie, VERY helpful response. Background on campaigns: 1. 1890 Austria-Hungary - lost war to Italy, went broke, gave up 2. 1890 Austria-Hungary - 13 yrs, wars with Russia, Italy & France went OK, crushed by France & Russia alliance 3. 1890 Japan - Tech stayed at average, sometimes hit advanced, then behind, 12 years, money issues, crushed by GB & France 4. 1890 Germany - 16 years, wars with Russia, France, Italy went OK, crushed by GB, went broke, gave up 5. 1890 Germany - 11 years, crushed by GB & France & Russia 6. 1920 USA - 21 years, defeated Spain, draw with GB, defeated Russia as German ally, more wars, crushed by GB, France, Japan - a lot of fun 7. 1920 Germany - 13 years, Washington Treaty on, peaceful start, very challenging due to treaty limits, lost to Russia, lost to France & Russia, so far behind decided to quit 8. 1935 Japan - 7 years, minor victory France and GB, Crushed by USA, GB & France 9. 1900 Germany - Current campaign: Going well, noticed after I'd sent above email that I forgot to raise Tech Research above 8%, took your advice and have been changing Research Priorities as per your advice for last 4 years, now Advanced. Defeated Italy twice, France once. Watching your videos has finally paid off as my combat tactics now allowing me to win againts even and slightly uneven odds. First ever even fight fleet victory against technologically superior France with 6 BB, 7 CA + escorts, Germany had 6 BB, 6 CA + escorts. France lost 6 BB a couple of CL and 7 DD. Germany lost 1 CA, 4 DD. Thanks again for all your guidance of we slow noobs :) Cheers, Leo

I keep getting into battle, and the game doesn't let me control any of my ships. Any idea why this happens?
@RvTWargames
@RvTWargames Жыл бұрын
Couple of ideas 1. Check your preferences. Which mode are you in? Admiral? Rear Admiral? Captain. Admiral only let's you control your flag division and give roles to your other divisions. Read Admiral (default) lets you control other divisions if they are in control range (visual flags in 1890, radio in 1935). Captain's mode lets you control all divisions and when you fire your torpedoes. 2. What role does your other divisions have? They will be the default behaviour. In 1890 controlling your fleet is very hard and you need to keep your fleet movement simple. . Improvements in technology, especially once the fleet tactics research area starts, this will slowly get better.
