Hi @AllaboutIreland, if one British parent works in Northern Ireland in 2023 then has a child born in 2024 in Northern Ireland, could they apply for an Irish baby passport for their new born? If so, share the process with URL to Irish government site please. #AskYella
@askyella2 жыл бұрын
If either of your parents was an Irish or UK citizen at the time of your birth, you are automatically an Irish citizen if you were born in Ireland. If you were born in Northern Ireland to an Irish or British parent, you can choose to be an Irish citizen. www.citizensinformation.ie/en/moving_country/irish_citizenship/irish_citizenship_through_birth_or_descent.html#l4949a

Since all the documents are sent, how long does it usually take to receive your documents back? I am precisely referring to the IRPs and Passports. Thanks for your help!

I received them 15 days after the baby's passport. I received baby's passport after 56 days from application.

@@askyella this might be a problem, as I will need my IRP and Passport earlier due to work reasons (I will have to travel around those dates). Do you know if there is any option for recalling the documents earlier? at least IRP and Passport of one of the parents?

Hi Yella, just out of box question! Me and my friend moved to temperory accommodation 14 months back. One of Indian girl had subletted her room to us, she took rent 900 euro per month from us. Now we came to know when we talk to owner rent is 800. So she took 100 euro from us for 14 month which will be 1400 euro till now. We are about leave this house now, when we asked her why you took extra amount she was not able to answer. So here in this case what I can do? Should I go to Garda, will there be any point of involving them? Also owner had never give lease to anyone for that house! I really don’t know what to do but I just feels like cheated by our own desi people 😢

Hi, Sublets unless they have an agreement - there would be no legal clause but if you want, you can take the legal route. It may take a year of 2. you will get your money as well as the lady would probably on the news.

Hello and thanks for sharing the info We are expecting a baby in December this year, and I (the father of the baby) arrived in Ireland in May 2019. I held a critical skills visa during the first 2 years, and have been holding stamp-4 since March 2021, which as I understand both are considered as a reckonable residence. My question is, what is the exact definition of the 3 years, is it 1095 days (=365x3) that one of the parents must have spent in Ireland before the child is born? or it also counts the time during which the parents spent outside Ireland (e.g. holidays)?
@askyella2 жыл бұрын
Hello Sami, Congrats on the baby news and expect to have sleepless nights :). You are good. 3 years since entry into country on reckonable residency. Holidays dont matter. You are good. your baby will get citizenship by birth

Thanks Yella. I think I'm in a same situation like yourself. In my case, 1) stamping delay due to getting IRP appointment during COVID 2) No stamping done by GNIB cork office for the year 2021 in my passport 3) Spouse 1G is Stamped as 1G graduate scheme in passport. Due to the above reasons our child passport application cancelled without even asking any clarifications with us though I attached an explanation letter while submitting documents. Any recommendations for us from you Yella? Trying to figure out what actions to take? Thanks a lot.

@askyella2 жыл бұрын
Even if there is a break, if one completes 3-year reckonable residency, they are eligible. If a parent has completed 3 years in the last 5 or more years, they are not. If a parent has completed 3 years straight, they are.
