Love the way you reviewed this, bit of humour to a potentially painful process

Hi Brian. Anything involving the UK Government requires a sense of humour otherwise we would all go mad.

Thought it be simple to go EV 😱 Great video as always though and a very very nice car 👍

Hi Matt, thank you for the complement. It is easy to go EV. We are charging our EV every night for 4 hours with a dumb charger (2.5 Kwh). But when we get the 7 Kwh smart charger installed. We will be able to travel 3 times as far on our 5p tariff. 😀

It is easy to go EV, but there are some things to be aware of for your home charger installation as pointed out in the video. The issues encountered in this video aren't common and do not apply to everybody. But every home and installation is different. Some will be extremely straightforward, while others will require the DNO to do some work beforehand. Our advice is to get a quote as soon as possible for your home installation and well in advance of your vehicle arriving. That way, if there are any unforeseen issues they should hopefully be resolved before your car arrives or not too long after.

Hi Smart Home Charge. Forewarned is forearmed and to know there is a new scheme in place to pay for this electric upgrading can only be an advantage to everybody in our position. I have been told this scheme is only a few months old. So people who pulled the plug on their Smart Home Charge installation, because of the cost, may want to ask their DNO about it. Let's face it, if you din't ask, you don't get. Perhaps you should forward a link to this KZbin video to them, to help them out? I would.😀

Was there a need to get a faster charger,as even the three pin charger used every night for four hours will provide enough charge for normal use.

Good point Alan but I want to access the Octopus Go tariff. This gives me cheap green electricity at 5p a Kwh from 0.30 to 4.30 every night. This helps the National Grid to balance energy demands.

@@UsefulWisdom I have octopus go,I don't have fast charger. Iam not saying I won't get one,but iam not sure I can justify cost and it may be another uneccesesary environmentally unfriendly consumer item?

Hi @@alanrobinson2229 I managed to run my EV for a few months with the low power charger that was provided with the car. I used a cheap timer from B and Q to access the cheap power (make sure it is capable to taking the amperage of your charger). But I still like my Smart 7.2 Kwh Ohme Charger. You pays your money and you make your choices.

@@UsefulWisdom yes,I am considering getting the home three pin plug version and trying octopus agile,as I can leave car plugged in and then possibly get cheapest charging. BTW,I appreciate your video very much and learned alot.I check my electric supply and don't have loop and also have 100amp.👍

Hi Alan, you would be better with a smart charger on the agile tariff. It changes as the weather changes because green is cheap on windy and sunny days. Agile electricity changes price every half hour and you need a smart meter to make it work for you. We made a KZbin video to show how to set up an app on a tablet or mobile phone: Ohme Intelligent Smart Charger Installation, How to Use The Ohme App With A Cheap Electric Tariff Also this KZbin video may help you: CHEAP GREEN ELECTRICITY AND SMART METERS FROM OCTOPUS ENERGY
