Framing and composition are necessary terms to understand if you are going to make compelling visuals for your video. These 7 rules for composition and framing will help you craft shots that look more and more professional.
In this video we explore a few of the more basic and foundational rules of composition. These include the rule of thirds, symmetry, leading lines, leading room, depth, and size of subject. Lastly we look at how following these rules can help you, but strategically breaking them can also be an important decision that can benefit your project. Ultimately, the most important part of film-making is your story. Everything else comes second.

I've always dreamed of directing and shooting a movie (or a short film, at least), but never acted on it because I know how expensive the required equipment is, and how many skills you need to have which I really don't. I'm a person of arts so photography is one of my hobbies and who knows, I might actually shoot a short film someday! Thank you so much for all the valuable and interesting information!

just go for it! i made a short film myself (check it out if you like) with no knowledge and budget, just with my old canon m50 and a rough idea. i think it turned out well, at least i like it and i learned so much in the process. so, just go for it and dont over think it 🤙

When I first got into photography a very well known photographer gave me some of the best advice ever. He said, you know all these photography rules? Throw them out.😁 In all seriousness these rules are to help you for sure, but don't get stuck in them. Take images that inspire "you". Great vid. Happy picture taking!😎

I've just started Photography and this helps an aweful lot. I have other course and they go over the rules - but in a text book kind of way, just to cover them, more or less. I like you give actual examples. In the end, all of this will take some time to get it right - but this is a great starting point for me - understanding the rules.

I was so nervous, I barely got any sleep, my hands were shaking tremendously before and during the presentation of the film I worked on, I started getting pessimistic because of some minor errors here and there, but guess what? *We actually won!* we got the highest score amongst all the other short films, it was an unbelievable moment, the crowd getting carried away with how the actors acted, how they told that the edits and camera angles were incredible, and topping two of the most competitive editors i've practically looked up to to, I can't convey into words how much you really helped me with this project(even though i practically did haha) but still... thank you so so much.
