Rules of Golf - Embedded ball in rough.

Whilst playing during the winter months with the ground being soft you may encounter a ball that is embedded in its own pitchmark, but what is the rule if this happens in the rough. Knowing the rules of golf will allow you to save shots and as you might find out in this video, you may even be able to take advantage of them. The embedded ball rule is one rule is one we really need to know when playing in soft wet conditions.
During the winter months we may encounter some rules more than we would do during summer condition's. In today's video we are looking at the rule when your ball is embedded in its pitch mark in the rough.

I’ve been struggling with winter golf for a few years as I didn’t know the rules for preferred lies and embedded balls. This weekend me and my mates played really well with the rules as you’ve stated. Rules are there for a reason so take full advantage and get the scores you deserve . Thanks for posting 👍

Did they change the rule on this,I thought you only got relief through the fairway

@michaelmalone3633 it was changed a few years back to include the general area and not just areas cut to fairway height.

@@darrenarbergolf had my first physio today went OK. Great bend on the knee 98% but struggled to straighten it properly. That could be due to the infection I've got. Going to put the putting mat down tomorrow have half hour.

We are currently using matts on most tees. My question is we have red yellow and white tee markers at the front middle and back of the matt. Can i tee up anywhere I choose on the matt?

In the instance of using mats on tees, the the whole mat becomes the teeing ground. Therefore the mat is the tee for all colours.

Presumably if you have gone much further off the fairway the same rule applies that you can mark it and drop it within a club length of where it has embedded and this now applies all year round? Obviously not withstanding any local rules?

Yes the rule applies to the general area. It changed maybe 2019, before that it was just grass cut to fairway height.
