Yeah they won't understand it. Much of the funny aspects are dialogue and word plays that don't translate well in subs. Also they would have no cultural context to appreciate the different accents and stuff.

Guys! You SHOULD watch this film. This is one of the hilarious movies out there. You'll laugh from the beginning to end. 90's and early 2000's Kamal Haasan movies are a treat to watch. During that time he made a lot of Comedy genre film with "crazy mohan" writing the scripts. In between he made some serious films too. But, most of them were comedies and every single one of them is such a treat. You should try to watch This one "Michael Madhana Kamarajan", "Avvai shanmugi" (Remake of Mrs. Doubtfire), Panjathanthiram, Pammal K. Sammantham and Vasool Raja M.B.B.S. (Remake of Munna Bhai MBBS) these are the classics of Kamal Haasan.
