The Looft Lighter X came out last year, and they just released Gen 2. In this video, we do an unboxing and take our first look at the Looft Lighter x Gen 2.
This is a great alternative to some of the propane flame thrower options. I added natural gas for my grill so I didn't have to deal with propane anymore :)
I'll be posting a full review once I have some time with it.

I’ve used the Looft almost exclusively when i got started. Not a fan of the spraying sparks with most brands of charcoal and the inevitable burn out from being close to the fire ... but all in all this portable unit seems slick Thanks for the shout out lol

We will see what happens once I beat it up a bit and I try a few brands of lump. Luckily I on all stone so I don’t have to worry about sparks as much. No problem!

How has it held up? Torn between a grill gun and this at the moment.

Get a grill gun. It works much better. I bought one since and prefer it.

That looks very effective for a KK for low & slow. If you are grilling on a KK you need to start more areas and spread out the hot coals. Still isn’t a bad solution. I have a 42” KK and it takes a hour to really heat up properly for 90% of cooks. If I’m grilling kababs or hotdogs (easy quick direct grilling) it takes 20-30 minutes as heat soaking isn’t important/necessary.

It’s actually a larger area that is burning than it looks from the angle. Also since the fan is blowing down its lighting more lump lower than on top. That being said, the cool thing is you could just light a second area if needed. I need some more time with it and will share an update once I have tried it a few different ways.

@@RumandCook that’s perfect then when you want to come up fast for some cooks. It looks powerful. Just be careful not to start with too big of a fire for low & slow. Game over if you overshoot your mark. I have about 65-70 cooks on my KK I’d guess, could be a few more and I’ve got it pretty much 100% these days. Looking forward to seeing more reviews, your videos are great.

Haha yeah that is certainly something you need to be careful with. Don’t overshoot and don’t get hot too quickly in cold weather. I had a Kamado Joe big Joe for a few years before upgrading to my KK. Learned not to overshoot the hard way, more than a few times in the beginning 😁. A KJ you can get back down with a little patience. A partly heat soaked KK and you’ll be delaying dinner a bit. Appreciate the feedback!

@@RumandCook I always come up slow. After enough times like any smoker/cooker you know where the vents need to be and how much fire to start with. Then nothing to ever worry about. On a KK no chance to come down much temp on a overshoot. New recipe plan lol.

Nice review looks better power than gen1 How is it power wise compared to a wired blower

It definitely seems to have more power than Gen 1 and they told me it's hotter. I've never used the electric one so I'm not sure.

I own a "1st Gen" LooftLighter (that I received as a gift 2 years ago), but your Gen 2 not only looks good, it also appears to solve a few of the issues I have with the first model. Nice demo! Thanks! 👍

Yeah I’m not sure how much they increased the heat, but I could smell warm lump pretty quickly. Thanks for watching!
