62 Fighter If we're talking about progression then I must say that his movies after Rumble In The Bronx (especially in the last decade) haven't been impressive to me. But if we're talking his legacy as a whole and how much he has contributed to action movies then I totally agree.
@avocate20179 жыл бұрын
You do realize that Jackie Chan was already in his 40s by the time "Rumble in the Bronx" came out and that he was in his 40s-50s when he did the "Rush Hour" series, right? He was 53 when "Rush Hour 3" came out. Of course, his best work was done when he was younger, but it's hard to say that the movies after "Rumble In the Bronx" weren't impressive. Sure, the movies became more mainstream and the action scenes weren't as non-stop as they were in his earlier work, but he still had some amazing moves. There aren't many martial artists who continued to perform at that level in their 50s.
@tony_freshed9 жыл бұрын
***** Age doesn't mean anything. Jackie was still in pretty good shape from 1995 to 2004 but wasted himself doing subpar movies. His move to Hollywood made his movie choices worse. Shame. As for martial artists-turned actors in their 50s that performs at the same level as they did previously, Donnie Yen comes to mind.
@CNRhKXtreme7 жыл бұрын
This is how an action scene is done. The action is very clear, the movements connected and fluid, and with a ton of neat individual moments. Cut to today, and so many action scenes are shaky cams, jump cuts, and stunt workers interspersed here and there. We need a return to this.

@@Wafaloo John Wick isn't changing shit. It's an exception, not the norm. Keanu trained A LOT for that movie + they had a proper action director who came from the stunt world with a clear vision. 99.9% of actors can't commit to a role like that to that degree risking their lives like Jackie did. Outside of Jackie not many come close really. Hollywood does the shaky cam, random cuts, blurry dark scenes because their actors are crybabies who can't commit to physical requirements. Tom Cruise kinda does (I say kinda because as much as he likes doing the stunts, he doesn't really commit to the fighting part). Look even in China...Bruce Lee/Jackie Chan/Jet Li/Donnie Yen...no one else is out there...China doesn't have those type of legends anymore. Not many actors who have IT when it comes to fighting and action roles. If you love martial arts, better buy all these legends' movies because you won't be getting anything close to that for a long long time. Heck...Jackie Chan vs Benny The Jet is the best fight scene of all time and that was shot almost 40 years ago. And we still haven't had a scene that comes close to that. Jackie Chan is on a different level to everyone else. I'm sorry but not even Donnie or Jet can compare. Bruce and Jackie are at the very top everyone else isn't even close. (Yes I'm aware that Jackie surpassed Bruce only because he lived longer, saying that Bruce would have been the ONLY person to surpass Jackie is a compliment in itself)
@maskcollector69492 жыл бұрын
@@mrt445 Jackie surpassed Bruce a long time ago, I can't rewatch Bruce Lee's fight scenes without yawning. Everything after Big Boss was lackluster and unrealistic beyond his duels, not to mention terrible plots/scriptwriting. Brandon Lee was the hugest loss cinematically, he was going places. Bruce was declining in quality by the time he died to me in terms of film. Still probably the hardest to beat in terms of a duel, but honestly Jackie Chan fights dirty and when pressed I think he would win despite saying otherwise out of respect. Chan was Bruce Lee's stunt double, after all. It's a shame the mafia murdered both of them. I'm 99% sure Bruce was into some shady shit and made some enemies. It was either the mafia or a rival kung fu school. That being said Jackie endorses the CCP cause they have dirt on his son, etc - all idols have clay feet.

And during the scene where he climbed up through but backside of a shopping cart, he got stuck in it once.

Yes, he's reminding them that they're shit, but there's an additional layer to it, a challenge for them to be better people. You can repent. Do good. Rehabilitate your potential if for noone else than yourself. You can be a good person. It don't take no Jackie Chan kicking your teeth out to learn any better either. If you gotta be shit, be shit like Tony and have an arc that ends with you unfucking yourself.

Yeah honestly, I forgot how poignant that scene is until I saw it again. Most action movies would treat the gang of baddies as pure fodder, and if they get beat or killed it's because they had it coming. Leave it to Jackie to point out that he just wants them to start acting better. And something about the message juxtaposed with his accent (I'm allowed to say this because he sounds exactly like my dad) makes it sound like a Disappointed Asian Father moment and it's just all the better. Disappointed Asian Father who just whooped yo ass with a ski that is.

easy men, it´s only about fighting choreography and if you like it or don´t, legend number two after Bruce Lee is Jackie Chan, and I fuckin like Donnie...

I know. But the tone of donnie yen mma choregraphy is rather brutal to the point that i feel that every strike that comes in contact is deathblow or crippling blow.

Or even Tony Jaa. He won't kill you (usually), but his attacks tend to fall into the "cripple you for life" category of brutal...

I've never seen anyone fight using his environment like Jackie Chan can. A true artist.

Jackie Change is a true Kung Fu master in that he's not only a master of himself, but also of his environment. Look how uses everyday objects to his advantage during the fight.
