I’m Iranian/Persian, Rumi’s or Molana’s poetry is about Sufism, mystic poetry about the love relationship between Man and God/Creator. Homayoun Shajarian is a well known singer in Persian traditional music industry and son of Maestro Mohammadreza Shajarian(RIP). Sohrab Pournazeri is behind the instrument that is called “Tanbour/Tanboor”, an instrument which mostly used in Persian Sufi music and dates back to ancient Mesopotamia and widely being used in the region with different variants but it shined in ancient Persian empires courts from 300BC to 700AD. Persian/Sufi music and overall Persian traditional music is about mysticism, trance and meditations and heavily influenced by Persian poetry like works of Rumi, Saadi Shirazi, Hafez Shirazi, Shams, Khayaam and many other poets of middle age Persia/Iran. Other well known Iranian singer in Sufi music structure is Shahram Nazeri.

@reza... So in your opinion, the mere fact of "... All troubles going on in our country, still .." in your perception is reason enough not to feel blessed. Juvenile reasoning doesn't even come close to describing either the "feeling of being ashamed" or "the feeling of being blessed". More like a lack of self respect, self confidence and being brain washed by the MSM would be more appropriate and to the point.

I watched a few youtubers reacting to Homayoun Shajarian performing Rumi's poetry , but many people fail to recognize that what Rumi meant with "beloved" is the love for God. Actually Rumi's poetry is designed to be ambiguous in that way. In my opinion that's what makes it so beautiful.

Hi There. To answer your question, the lines were not from different years, but different poems. A "Ghazal" is a poem that is broken into pairs of lines that rhyme with each other. So these lines were taken from different poems and used as lyrics. And you are correct, the love they speak of in this song/poem is not love, but Love...as in "The One" or "The Source" from which (according to Sufism to which I very much subscribe) we are separated from, and the beautiful agony of separation is what we humans suffer from, until such time that we return to the Source. One beautiful analogy from Attar (a ancient Iranian Poet) is that they 'human consciousness' is like a droplet of water separated from the "Ocean". As a droplet you can not possibly comprehend the Ocean (which is why the religious right fears sufism) and after we breath our last, we return to the "One" so we/you/I will all be "Water" rather than a droplet separated from Love. May Peace be upon you and Love your guide.

This poem is speak the scene which the Rumi in love of the main lover (mother of nature) and now he speak about the ways he passed to reach it. He broke any materialistic connection which band him to this world and then the journey began.

He was a Persian philosopher who met Shams Tabrizi ( north of iran ). From then on he converted to Sufism and turned away from Islam . He had to leave parts of Persia because the Mongolians attacked parts of Persian empire and so he had go to Ghonieh which was still part of Persia .and is now part of Turkey . Tne Turkish claim he’s their poet whereas none of his poetry was written in Turkish .
