Just buy Gift cards quarterly for Hilton(all hotels now) and quarterly for airline (all airline tickets not incidental)....then use the gift cards the next year. $400 credit easily redeemed. Gift cards no expiration

That's for sure one possibility. Frequent travelers won't have any issues spending the credit. I mean... we are spending 120-140 nights per year at Hiltons and have around 30 flights per year. No doubts that we spend the credits easily. :-D

Yes, let's hope for the best. Although it would still be one of the best travel cards, I actually also started comparing what Marriott has to offer, when I make my travel plans...

Even if they bump the annual fee to $650, the card is still great. Instant diamond status value easily outweigh the annual fee

Absolutely. And in combination with the 14x multiplier for Hilton expenditures + the Free Night Certificate it is still worth it. And if you finally can use the airline credit for booking air fares without having to use the United Travel Bank hack, it's actually not too bad. Let's see which of the different versions will be implemented...
