A beautiful woman used to not being seen as anything other than beautiful may look for the beauty within when selecting a partner. An unattractive man might want or need more from a relationship than just a beautiful woman on his arm. (that is, maybe she's dumb or not a good person) A beautiful woman may select an unattractive partner so there is no one to compete with her. An unattractive man may not be anymore immune from a midlife crisis or needing an ego boost than an attractive one. An unattractive man should not have to settle for being in an unhappy relationship just because his partner is considered attractive. The thing is, there’s more to a marriage than beauty and intelligence. A woman may not be as intelligent as another, but she feeds a man’s ego, may be a good cook, and may have more things in common with the man than the “beautiful and intelligent” woman you think of. Or vice versa. People work in different ways and they’re all different. Or one guy may be messy as hell and the woman can’t stand that. There’s so many things that cause a divorce. I think Cassel was crazy to allow the marriage to become adrift.
