NZ Battle of the Bands - National Finals Performance & Road Trip - Rumpus Machine - Live Rock Show

Here's a video of our trip to Wellington for the National Finals of the New Zealand Battle of the Bands. We entered the competition in August and after working our way through the Auckland heats, semi finals and finals we were selected as one of the top 15 bands nationally to be playing at the Wellington finals. We came away with 3rd place which was amazing for us! Hannah was awarded best bass player! Our thanks go out to the NZ Battle of the Bands team and most especially Andrew, who gave us the opportunity to partake in an R18 event and looked past the ages of the band members to see us simply as the musicians we are. Rumpus Machine is the youngest band to ever enter the competition. Thanks too to the other people that we’ve met from the other bands too for entertaining us. This experience has been fantastic and unforgettable to us and is a big part of our musical journey. The winning bands were 1st Place The Dead Zephyrs, 2nd Place Dave and the Dirty Humans, and then 3rd Place Rumpus Machine.

Rumpus Machine is a sibling rock band playing live classic rock music and original songs! We are brothers and sisters from Auckland in New Zealand. We like to learn and perform new songs together and play modern music and classic rock songs. We also write our own original songs too and publish to Spotify & Apple Music etc. We like to play live if we can - but also enjoying sharing our music online. We like to learn the new songs and polish them up as much as we can before we decide they’re ready to video and share. It’s gives us something to aim for and it’s also good to have for the future.
Ashley on drums and Hannah on the bass are twins and 13 years old. Matthew on guitar is 14 and Daniel on guitar and lead vocals is 16. Thanks for watching!

Finally I discovered you too ... after all these years of great great music you make already ... I'm flabbergasted ! Absolutely ! All four of you are real masters on your instrument ! You make me feel astonished about your skills - beside the knowledge that you are so young ... Respect ! GREAT RESPECT ! I have heard/seen all your KZbin video's and couldn't stop listening ... I've been playing piano/organ/keyboard almost all my life in all kinds of Bands, mostly 1960/1970/1980 years songs (like you do to sometimes), but seeing/hearing you (now in the age of 71) makes my heart jump for joy ! Forgive me for saying that I am very charmed by the way Hannah plays her bass ... I'm so pleased you've produced this video of your trip to Wellington and Final performance to share with us all. Great to see Dan's confidence now as frontman and lead vocals, and see the whole band moving and connecting with the audience. You presented a good mix of styles that allowed each of you to shine, leading to Hannah's amazing recognition as best bass player at only just 13yrs .... wow! Your regular practice, recordings and performances have really paid off with Matthew just as competent as Dan with his contrasting Les Paul lead breaks and Ashley providing that all important solid percussion often hidden at the back. Also good to see your battle bus; I did wonder how you all got around with your gear and all. Really enjoyed this; thanks guys!

Love your live energy! Just great, and I speak as someone who has worked with lots of bands and top notch musicians. It isn't always about technicality, more often it is undefinable and either you have it or you don't, its a unique musicality and vision.
