I thought a yellow signal on the map means it'll be green but turn red for the next train until the dispatcher clears it again, and green means it'll keep clearing all trains as long as the tracks are clear.

in regards to breaking a coupler knuckle, (assuming that the game designers designed it to be as realistic as possible) FYI the tensile strength of a knuckle is 400,000 lbs. & 3 SD70ACEs can easily produce more than 400k lbs. of tractive effort. in fact, because of their extra weight, just 2 of CSX's "heavies" are capable of producing 400k lbs.

Quincy talks about rolling the tracks as well, with all the power.

@@KungfuBeer I've also even heard a couple stories of heavy trains trying to start uphill and actually pulling the rail apart under the locomotives. I have seen a few clips over the years of the engineer holding his head out the window as he powers up, I assume it's to make sure that he is actually moving when the speedometer first begins to register any speed. cuz it makes sense to me that if you're not getting any shuddering due to wheel slip, & the speedometer is showing any amount of speed at all, & ur not moving, then I reckon one could deduce that they might be pulling the rail apart.

Train weights are not realistic. Empty cars have weights too. A train of empties can weigh 4000 tons or more. Train weight also includes loco weight, roughly 135 tons for GP's, 196 for SD40's and 205 for wide cab GE's and SD70's.
@KungfuBeer Жыл бұрын
Understood, it's still the best version out there.

@@KungfuBeer If you look at the car that is empty it says Load weight, not gross weight, so the empty gondola shows that it has no load. Each empty car in Run 8 does have a weight. To find the tare weight of a car place a single car on the tracks and check out the hud at the top of the screen it will show the cars empty weight or its gross weight depending on how much you have loaded it.

I have a question regarding the direction of MU'ed units. I can understand why DPUs would need their direction set up (which is probably why you needed to change the MU'ed unit to a DPU before changing direction), but MU'ed units should be able to determine their direction based on the information transmitted over the MU cabling. In my experience, I've never needed to set the direction of MU'ed units. Is this something that's been changed in a recent update?
@KungfuBeer Жыл бұрын
Im still in the habit of changing the orientation of the MUs during the early days of Run8v3. Its no longer an issue as the orientation is automatically set via the MU cables.
@mic8040 Жыл бұрын
@@KungfuBeer A MU is a MU, you can't change the orientation of them. you basically set it as a reversed DPU and them changed it to a MU. It did nothing.
