What makes the "Is he smart" scene even more heartbraking is the realisation that Forrest Gump was always self aware of his intelligence. He knew he wasn't as smart as other people. And when he saw Forrest Jr. his first concern was that he could have the same disadvantage as he has. And how happy he was when Jenny told him his son is smart!

Irony...he and Gary are also in Green Mile and Apollo 13. In this, at the bar, Dan tells Forrest,if he's ever a shrimp boat captain, I'll be an astronaut! Later when Dan is walking his legs are made of Space Shuttle material! And then of course they both do Apollo 13, and Gary's next movie is as an astronaut to Mars!

I'm glad Allen enjoyed the movie. I definitely understand the frustration with Jenny and her constant running away, but that's a trauma response, unfortunately. I was glad she got to experience love before she passed away.

So glad you "loved" this classic. Lt Dan a great character. That actor and Tom hanks have been in 3 movies together--this one, Appollo 13 and green mile. Good job recognizing haley from 6th sense. The bus driver was on SNL and Seinfeld and I'm sure other things. you saying "Forrest you gotta learn how to fight!" And he sure did huh? Beating dude in car, beating dude at bar and at the black panther thing. Yeah Tom hanks is just unreal. He can play any any character. So cool that you have and play VHS! :) I have so many but I'm old. I havent seen old country either so I wish I had a copy so I could watch with yall! :(

Jenny probably did have AIDS. I first heard about AIDS in the late 1980s in news about Ryan White. Tom Hanks is in another movie Philadelphia 1993 that is about the AIDS.

Great Reaction. We Vietnam Veterans, get very emotional when Bubba is dying. We feel that, as we remember those days, and then came home, as people at the airports are screaming at us, spitting on us, calling us "baby killers." The Vietnam Protest in Washington DC, was will depicted, as that's the way it really was, with 1 Million people protesting there every week. FYI: Jenny, played Buttercup, in the PRINCESS BRIDE. She is a very good actor.

I never understood that dumb saying that Tom Hanks says in the beginning of this movie. Of course you can tell what kind of chocolates you are getting, the pictures of the chocolates with what they have inside are right on the cover of the box or under the box. Do you know exactly what chocolates you’re getting whether they have peanuts or whether they are mint inside of them. You know exactly what you’re getting.

The does have pictures and names of the chocolate but the chocolates aren’t sorted in there by what the pictures on the box shows. Which is why you never know which flavor you’re going to get

1. The music rights alone must have cost a small fortune💲💲 2. Kurt Russell did the voice for Elvis. 3. IRL Sally Fields is only 10 years older than Tom Hanks. 4. Having gotten his degree Forrest would have gone into the Army as an officer like Lt. Dan. not a recruit. His ASVAB kills that. 5. He actually saved Lt Dan twice. Once in the field and again to get him out of his post war funk and Dan turned his life around. 6. Normally an enlisted Army person would be fully aware of his/her separation date. 5. Jenny did indeed give him the best gift ever (it wasn't the shoes)😋 8. Jenny died of Hep-C from dirty needles when she was in Caliphony.. 9. It's ironic that Lt. Dan told the guys to take care of their feet because he loses his. 10. At the rally Forrest says, "Sometimes when people go to Vietnam, they go home to their mommas without any legs. Sometimes they don't go home at all. That's a bad thing. That's all I have to say about that." 11. You have had a ride through recent US history and culture. From Elvis, John Lennon, Abby Hoffman to Vietnam and Watergate. Even the jogging craze of the 70's. About the only thing left out was streaking. 13. "Sometimes, I guess, there're aren't enough rocks" 14. Haley Joel Osmentt/Forrest Jr. steals the show in "The Sixth Sense" with Bruce Willis. 15. Often when he's finishing a segment about death, he ends it by saying "That's all I have to say about that" 16 Keep in mind if Jenny wasn't wasting her life seeking men like her father and was with Forrest he/we wouldn't have had this incredible journey.
