I love the concept of "filing it away." I've learned a lot of these tricks from this channel. Experience shows that some day these little tricks will get you or someone you're with out of a bind.

A trick a lot of truck diesel mechanics use for Japanese and European diesels to bleed fuel filters and prime the engine cause the primer pumps are small, is to use a compressor if avilable and pressurise the fuel tank which will then push fuel through the lines and fills the filters etc

Another approach is to use your air-compressor and air-blow nozzle to pressurise the fuel tank, use a rag and shove the nozzle/rag in the tank filler.. lightly compress the fuel tank until you get fuel spurting out the bleed nipple on your pump or filter, this may take a minute or so.. close off the bleeder and you're generally good to go.

Hi Geoff, another of your short little class lessons, but surely the idea would be not to run of fuel in the first place, take care and keep safe, best regards from Melbourne.

Great video Geoff. I wish I’d seen this when my Perentie ran out of fuel due to a faulty gauge and I could not restart it and had to get towed!

Mate what you describe in this video, is exactly how I was taught to do it on my driver's course back in the day, in the event the little hand pump leaked. We would also crack the lines regardless of how we were priming the lines.

Hi Geoff. Would you recommend cracking the lines off at home before going on a trip, just so they aren't seized on if you need to bleed the system? Tighten them back up before you start the engine.
