El-P is the producer/other MC. Connected through a mutual friend at adult swim, who oddly enough have a music division. They met for El-P to potentially produce a track for Mike, which he was reluctant to do because he was busy finishing a record called Cancer 4 Cure (C4C) at the time. After meeting, El-P ended up producing all of Killer Mike’s R.A.P. Music, Mike was a feature on C4C, and they had enough left over for the first Run the Jewels album. Kept working together from there with the intention of making Run the Jewels albums from the jump instead of as leftovers from solo work. All of this is in an older El-P interview I remember watching a while ago.
