That's why some people get stuck in a generation of music because it strings the chords you understand and can either relate to or reminisce on. Rap is mainly focused on the lyrics but people are too effed up on pills to want and try to keep up with wordsmiths. That is why mumble rap exceeds, easy to sing to if you know the lyrics, doesn't require much deciphering, and with the opioid epidemic, the mainstream unfortunately finds the songs about taking pills like Xanax, something they can relate to. Gangsta rap, you either live it or you fantasize about the power they rap about. But rap about drugs sell more at this current time i guess lol
