My DIY MX4SIO worked on both 90001 and 75001. I used the official beta 1.2.0 opl.

@taskentlutsow2110 yes. On slot 1. Mx4sio is on slot 2.. it will only save in mx4sio sd card if i setup virtual MC. But it gets corrupted most of the time.

Just to be clear, if I plan on buying both the FMCB Memory Card and the MXSIO card from aliexpress I can still use the exact instructions you've laid out for installing the correct version of OPL? With the ability to save games? Because that would be the simplest way for me to do it and the instructions you've given are the clearest and easiest to follow I've seen yet,much appreciated for all your work on this.

Hello Michael, Thank you for this video, your calm and pedagogical voice is a delight! I have recently purchased the all in one kit from Ali Express, containing The FMCB, MX4SIO and a 64GB Microdrive SD card. My problem is the SD card is read by my PC as RAW drive, and I can't do anything with it, I have to format it but I always get an error message. I'm using a brand new card reader and i've tried other SD cards that works well. Do you happen to know what's the problem with this card? Did i do anything wrong with it? Thanks again!

They probably write a pre-made image/blob of the whole SD card (in FAT32) to any card and don't test them.

Good Info. I got a combo package that came with both FMCB and SD reader but having a hard time playing games (some freeze loading) on my Fat model, do you recommend I try and upgrade to this beta version?

I have tried both of these files on my ps2 phat. I followed your instructions to the letter, but when i reboot abd select either 1627 or 1629, i just get a black screen. I have tried several times now, with same result, black screen. I did notice there were 4 files when i unzipped them, do i only need the two elf files for 1627/1629, or should the other files be placed somewhere else? Regards Andy

Did you let it go for a little while? Might take 10 seconds or so. I get a black screen but then after a while OPL boots up. You just need the .elf file.

I heard that the PS1 hardware has access to the memory card slot so it might be possible in the future to get MX4SIO to play PS1 games without POPs that would be so epic all PS2 games on HDD & all PS1 games on MX4SIO useing read PS1 hardware

I've been thinking about getting one of these for awhile. I currently have a external hdd that I use with OPL. It does the job but is slow at times.

I'd say ditch the USB method. I also did that method for years and it is too slow. I'd go with this method or get a ps2 phat with network adapter and hdd.

@@mbcrump I fully agree. Just for the sake of completing the information, I will mention that OPL 1.0.0 is currently still quite a bit faster than those newer OPL versions with the new BDM as a "backbone".

I recently got a Japanese PS2 fat model (SCPH-18000), and I was wondering if this will work with MX4SIO and the FMCB? Unfortunately the ps2 model I got had no HDD expansion bay so I had to resort to other alternatives.

McBoot can't be installed on an MX4SIO. You need to have it on a separate memory card.

Man I just don't want to fork over $40 for a 512 SD card. Does anyone know where I can get a large capacity SD card for cheap? I'm fine with generic but I don't want to use any of the backwater sites like aliexpress. I have a dispute going on with a seller on aliexpress right now. I just need a SD card that's at a affordable price. $20 for a 256-512gb sd card is in my budget.

what a mess!! That old, hacked version run ONCE on my PS2 and never started again, I took the cards to another PS2 and it worked on another one but then surprise, not a single game I installed (well I'm not saying nothing works but compatibility seams to be super thin) works anymore wile all of them worked on the latest OPL but with no save... WASTE OF TIME AND DISAPPOINTMENT :( Why does everyone make videos about how great it is but not a single video other than you ever addmits save games do not work, how are people supposed to use it without save games, it's useless :(
