First true test in mine yesterday, steep technical terrain while raining- I found them very stable, they stuck to everything like glue, and supremely comfortable. I’m using these over my speedgoats for long day trail stuff moving forward. For me these are awesome, which I never thought I’d say about a Nike shoe.

hi, are they heavy?

@ not drastically or enough to turn me off of them, but do feel slightly more than any version of speedgoat. I use them when it’s going to be a long day with rougher terrain and need comfort to chonk through the miles.

I’m sending them back, found them very heavy and clunky. I found the heel cup odd and couldn’t really get a lockdown, so lots of heel slippage. They also are really hot, and that was only after 10k. Felt stable and good grip, but they just felt like moon boots overall. I intended on using them for an 80k, but used the vectiv pro 2 instead which were surprisingly good. Light, cushioned, responsive, no heel slip and great lockdown overall.

I took them out a couple weeks ago. They performed great in an hour of rain and muddy wet trails. The rubber combined with the new lug pattern is a winner. I felt them actually sticking to everything

I received my Zegama 2's last week and have only had them out once thus far, but can definitely attest and confirm heat retention. Nothing out of control, but I agree with the 20-30 gram diet, which may've helped with air flow.

I just picked up a pair a few weeks ago for the San Juan Solstice 50. I did some very tech trails in Breckenridge and up on the CDT in the San Juan Mountains. This shoe stuck to everything and has great grip. Still can't believe I bought Nikes but the Zegama Trail 2 has really impressed me. It has a great rocker shape as well.

Got a pair as well. Surprisingly wide and fits my 2E foot well. I was also super surprised at how well it handled my technical terrain. Did about 3 runs over the weekend and not one slip

Would you say average nike fit in your regular size? I’ve been skeptical of getting this one, loved the first version but wasnt as durable as I hoped. And people mentioning that v2 is skinnier than v1 I’m not sure what to think- but every 10.5mens nike I’ve had all seem to fit well enough.

Those 2 pieces of stiff material around the lace eyelets are indeed very odd looking. Also wish Nike would have kept the logo styling on the first version.

Typical!! I had the original Zegamas and they were the most comfortable trail shoes I’ve had, BUT also the most rolled ankles per shoe. Gave up on them after a while and have just ordered some NB Hierro 8s for summer trails off the back of your review. Maybe should have waited for the in depth review on these! Keep up the good work Loyd 😊

Loved the 1st Zeggys, always said the only thing they lack is vibram and abit of stability. I've picked the 2s up but I've had surgery on a labral tear this weak and hip arthroscopy so won't be getting to try them for a few months.

Great video cheers. Now some people have said that the shoe is quite narrow. For those of us with slightly wider feet and who have tried the zegama 2, In terms of the snug fit, is it more or less narrow than the Speedgoat 5? The latter is quite narrow but the material has some stretch to it which makes it bearable. How is the Zegama 2 in that regard?

Ok so I’ve just done 15k in them: They do run hot. I supinate a lot, and they allow for this - they don’t try make my gait do something it doesn’t want to do. For me they have just the right cushion vs stability - but I mostly run compacted trails. If I was doing more technical trails of say 20% or more I’d probably opt for a different shoe. I think the light colours aren’t a great idea for a trail shoe. I don’t find them to feel heavy, in any way. For what I do they seem ideal - I could see for others they may not be……

After running a bunch in the Hoka Tecton X2 (and using the original Zegama), I found these super clunky/heavy...on the fast down the ZoomX foam was great and the grip is definitely improved over V.1, but I'm definitely going back to the Tecton, especially for the uphill...

used the v1 and v2 and idk. The v2 is super bouncy, and very fun to run on however, the v1 is more "stable" for me. I used the S/Lab genesis the entirety of last season and felt that shoe was the best in stability, just a shame it doesn't work very well with my foot shape. Mixed feelings for the v2.

Great review. Think I'll pass. Nike trail shoes peaked with the Wildhorse 7 for me. The react foam with the rock plate were famtastic and a tough toe bumper for extra protection. I'd be interested how durable that upper would be.

Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video 👍 The Wildhorse 7 really didn’t work for me, the outsole was terrible in wet conditions, the toe box was shallow and the midsole felt unstable on more technical trails! It ran well on the road though 🤷‍♂️

Does this shoe have a rock plate? Because the cutout on the rear of the outsole looks like an injury waiting to happen. I like my Nike shoes on the road and the trail versions are more comfortable than other brands but boy do they suck on very technical terrain... Either you got no grip or the shoe is rock hard or they are so unstable that you roll like crazy. I feel like Nike only makes them for very light trails but when I'm running on non-technical trails I just grab the Pegasus. Edit: I should also give Nike some credit, their trail shoes last waaaay longer than any Salomon shoe I ever had.

At UTS there was a Vibram stand offering re-soling, I see there are a couple of shops around that can now do this, the Vibram mega grip soles they had looked like the ones used on Hoka's, so maybe get those old Nikes re-soled. Save your money / save the earth :=)

As a fan of Nike´s trail shoes I've had almost every model of both the Terra Kiger and the Wildhorse. And also the first version of the Zegama which I really didn't like at all. A terrible midsole way to firm and dead and an unusually narrow fit. So it can only get better.

Still an absolute dud. Zero stability, bizarre foam shape/construction, zero breathability, retains every last drop of water it comes into contact with, just utterly thoughtless design. What on earth is the use case for these other than a dirt road in Arizona that’s been groomed with a rake? So bummed I let Nike dupe me yet again, with Vibram no less.
