I'm a huge advocate of Hoka shoes in general so I was excited to see this shoe. Unfortunately I would absolutely not pay £170. I can pick up a pair of speedgoats for RRP £125 and the Evo speedgoats for RRP £150. With this is mind I think they will struggle to sell as many as they could. Being their first shoe in the max cushion market they should have come in with a more competitive price. Thanks Lloyd for the review 👍

I totally agree Andrew 👍 I think Inov-8 have almost priced themselves out of the market. £170 is going to put a lot of people off the shoe, which is a shame because it felt pretty good out in that first run. Thanks for watching the channel and taking the time to comment it's really appreciated 🙏

I like the innovation (pun intended) of them working graphene into the midsole and trying a much different design to their usual style, but two big numbers put me off, 350g and £170! 😳 Great video though, particularly being able to see more of the stunning Cornish coastline. @@Run4Adventure , a real minimalist shoe. Amazingly if I removed all the laces they'd still feel like a glove. I think I'd only race up to 20k's on them as they're not supremely comfy and I can feel rocks through the forefoot. @@Run4Adventure I double this comment, you're reviews come very natural and honest, no signs of preferences for certain brands, Pros and Cons are always related to the intended use (e.g. some reviewers claim higher weight in Ultra shoes when >300gr. and judge by aggressive outsole in Allrounders, etc, not helpful at some point...). And in your reviews I can always read between the lines, as everybody's different I don't think there's good and bad only (e.g. max cushion, minimal cushion, ground feel, for 1 person good, bad for others). First run in these today. Same size as my G270’s and they are definitely a tighter fit. The front protection runs further round the toes so if you’ve got wide feet size up. Out of the box they felt tight and I thought that maybe they were the wrong size. Had no issues with theG270s in the same size but unless these stretch I am going to have to get rid. Got a pretty substantial blister and I’ve never had an issue from any other pair of Inov8’s I’ve worn (and I own about 7 pairs of their shoes!) I’m going to try with thinner insoles, like the boomerang insoles though and wonder how much cushioning they offer. Really comfortable underfoot and no other issues. Grip was great, could feel the ground and very stable. Didn’t notice the weight increase either. I’m not sure I want to have shoes that are a size and a half bigger, I think they’ll end up like clown shoes. If your hovering over the ‘add to basket’ I’d try to find a shop and try on first. Cheers for the review Loyd, great as usual and glad to see your getting back on form. Really enjoyed the rehab videos too so thanks for documenting it. Fantastic scenery by the way! Cheers!

@Run4Adventure3 жыл бұрын
It's a very different shoe to the Catamount! The Catamount is a lot more stripped back when it comes to the shoe and cushioning. The Trailfly ultra has a much deeper midsole and I'd say the cushioning is somewhere in the middle, not to soft but not firm either. It feels like your getting good energy return from the midsole and its very comfortable. Obviously being a much deeper midsole in the Inov-8 shoe you would loose some connection to the trails underfoot compared to your Brooks 👍 Hope this helps and thanks for watching the channel 🙏

Awesome Nathan and welcome to the world of trail running! 😊 I'd personally say maybe avoid Nike trail shoes, they don't work that well in British conditions. The level of traction and stability on technical, wet trails isn't great! The Peregrine 10 and 11's are solid trails shoes and can handle pretty much anything you throw at them. The Peregrine 11 has just come out so I'm sure you could find some discounted Peregrine 10's in the sale. INOV8 fan boy here and this shoe ticks some boxes for me. Like you, I wanted a g270 with a bit more drop and a little added comfort BUT I am concerned that a midsole stack of 25mm heel / 19mm forefoot compared to the g270's I suspect despite my reservations that I will give them a go though, they could if they feel good on really come into there own on the drier, tough on your feet routes like Lakeland 100.
@Run4Adventure3 жыл бұрын
Hi Dan, Even with the deeper midsole it still really feels like an Inov-8 shoe and I didn't feel like I'd lost all connection to the trails 👍 It's not super soft when it comes to the midsole like a Hoka so it's not to bad when it comes to stability. Thanks for watching 🙏

Hi Thomas It's such a personal decision when it comes to choosing a shoe for 100 miles! 😂😂😂 the £170 pricetag is a joke and thats being polite. One consistent thing about inov8 though is their over priced products! When I ran fells years ago inov8 was a brand I used but always disappointed. Tried again last year and same again.... disappointment! Treads that wear down too quick, hot spots in uppers that blister colonies love to thrive in just a few of the many areas of said disappointment. Brands like VJ are much better in comparison on rocky routes with even stickier more grippy rubber. On this shoe looking at moving up the ranks in the long distance trail market they are blatantly mimicking Hoka and cheekily charging more!!! Laughable move by inov8 in my opinion.... Look, if you are going to mimic another major successful brands products then it has to be at a lower price. Dear oh dear.....overpriced, overhyped..... and believing their own hype unfortunately. That shoe is nowhere near £170 worth..... not even close. On a positive note, great video as always with awesome presentation and editing. Beautiful scenery too 👌🏻
