Your ravings about the Xodus Ultra piqued my interest and gave it a try and, I have to say, it has also become my favorite all-round trail runner amongst a dozen trail shoes I have. It is definitely the most versatile and can handle whatever you throw at it with ease. I also added the inov-8 X-Talon 260 Ultra V2 with the coming rainy season in mind here in SoCal but haven't had a chance to take it out on a run yet. And, yes, I did add Boomerang footbed and that makes a big difference in comfort and feel. I also have the Endorphin Pro 3 amongst your top 5 and it is definitely one of my favorite road shoes of the year as well.

I bought your #1 and they are great in snow and on ice. Thanks. I used the Saucony Pro 3 for my only marathon this year and qualified for Boston by over 112 minutes.

Bought the Xodus because of your praise. Great results except for my last ultra which had lots of rock and rain. On wet rock there was no grip, it was comfortable but very slippery on wet rock. Love the the show Lloyd

Thanks for the video! What do you think of Altras? Bought some Superior 5s at the end of last year. Been taken them out just on roads and puddly footpaths so far but haven't yet had the chance to try them on more serious terrain (got a couple of trail runs this year).

This is the year I discovered and fell in love with Saucony. Ride 15, Triumph 20, Speed 3, Tempus, and Xodus Ultra - I mean what is left to be said? It all started when I bought a pair of Ultras after watching your review. Liked them so much that I bought another pair! So can't thank you enough honestly. Btw that Kailas shoe looks amazing - sort of a cross between a Salomon and Altra. I assume its global reach is limited. Not a bad price either. Amazing video as ever. I got the Exodus Ultra partly based on your review, and I haven't been disappointed. As with all Saucony trail shoes (never got roadies), they give me hot spots on the heal, though mostly on the first and second run. I don't find them super bouncy, but they're steady throughout, no matter how long the run (often times other shoes seem to deflate on longer efforts). Keep up the good work, and enjoy the holidays!

Great list, man! I’ve had good luck with the Xodus Ultra’s as well -I’ve rotated two pairs to make them last and even ran my first ultramarathon in them a week ago. All in all, I’ve run a lot in Saucony’s this year -the Speed 3’s are a fantastic shoe that I plan on using well into ‘23. Merry Christmas and we’ll see ya in the new year!

I too love my Xodus Ultra’s, they served me well on some 50 milers and the Grand Canyon R2R2R. The current color ways are pretty mediocre, at best, so hoping for new options this year

I've loved running in my Endorphin Speed 2's this year, it's a fantastic shoe on the road and just feels fast. The other amazing thing it achieves is on hard track sessions I would have a degree of soreness the next day, not the case with the Speeds, fantastic. I did buy a pair of Pro's 2 but just didn't find them as good, I'll look to get a pair of 3's on your recommendation Lloyd. Fantastic channel thank you for all the great content and reviews.

Have been looking forward to this review Loyd, so thanks for pulling it together. I'm still in the Salomon Ultra Glide based on your 2021 recommendation, and have been pretty happy with them. As a replacement, I've just picked up the New Balance More Trail ver 2 on sale, so will see how they go after Christmas. All the best for you and Liga for the festive season.

Has to be Altra's Lone Peak 6 for me. Two ultras and hundreds of training miles in, and they're still going strong. They've never been anything less than perfect for me.

I got 229 miles on my xodus today . It still holds that cushy feel and the lugs are a bit chewed up but you wouldnt notice it even if you even tried to pay attention to it. On smooth rocks you need to be careful 😰. Awesome shoes. I bought 2 pairs

I bought a pair of exodus ultras on your recommendation. I previously enjoyed the peregrines. But I must admit so far I’m very happy with them and better still they came in a colour/style called Winter edition or something like that. They have are black and purple, the insides have a pattern of leaves and pine cones. And to top it off there is a little ‘message’ on the inside tongue about running in the snow and woods!!! 😃 how cool is that!!

Love my Xodus Ultra. Put a bit more than 200 miles in them and they are still amazing. My go to trail shoe. I wished they would have used vibram outsole. Otherwise I'm waiting for the Xodus ultra2 to come out !

There's a winter version of the Xodus 🙋‍♂️ I was aldo looking for less old-school colors, so... no Xodus in da house yet. Yet, that BLACK version with icy outsole is just 👌

Totally agree re the Exodus Ultra, picked up a random swollen second to little toe the day before the Fairy Tale Of Newquay (my first marathon which they kindly turned into a 30 miler at the last minute😅) feet felt great the whole way - didn't miss a beat.

The Prime x strung is my best road shoe, it has made running a breeze, short of buying a horse. But I truly struggled with trail shoes, none of them gave me the bounce that my prime x did on the road. Waiting for my Salomon pulsar trail to arrive. Otherwise I guess I will have to cough out £200 for the saucony endorphin edge. Or wait and see what 2023 has in store

Xodus Ultra will be my next shoe. I wore my new Inov8 G300’s for the first time today, I found them very hard on the road sections, would the Boomerang Footbed help much with that. Thanks for all the great videos.

@@010MACS May e they are. They look like Boomerang but say G Grip so I think they might be. Shoot, means the G300’s aren’t the right trail shoe for me.

The 300's come with Boomerang footbeds in them 👍 If it was your first run in the shoes, I'd give them a few more miles to bed them in before you decide its not for you. I've always found the cushioning good on sections of road or firmer trail. Hope this helps and thanks for watching the channel 🙏😊

Saucony had a great year! Peregrine 12, Xodus Ultra, Endorphin Edge, Ride 15/Guide 15, Triumph 20, Endorphin Speed 3, Endorphin Pro 3, Tempus. All great shoes. BTW, there are actually some more colorways of Xodus to choose.

On the trails it's a toss up between the Xodus Ultra and Pulsar Trail. The former are the most comfortable long distance shoes I've ever worn while the Salomon provide a more secure lockdown and just roll on. On the road it's the Adidas Adios 6/7 for just about anything and the Takumi Sen 8 whenever speed is what I'm looking for.

Definitely a couple of contenders in there for my next rotation. I regret playing it 'safe' and going for the SG5 over the Exodus Ultra, especially is I'm not getting on the well with the SG5 compared to the other versions. Still have a brand new pair of Hoka Clifton 8s waiting to go as my daily all rounder but will be looking to pair those with an alternate road shoe, Roll on Xmas sales!

What are the things you don't like in SG5? I was actually eager to get it after missing the EVO (and not having any earlier Goats). Now, with the Xodus on the wishlist too, maybe I'll give Hoka more time too improve? 😄

@@yalokim5264 here's what I posted on Loyd's clip of the SG5 vs Norda: have had multiple pairs of every iteration of the SG. Like you, I loved the SG3 but I also didn't dislike the SG4. I'm now on the SG5 and can't say I love it. Been on a few runs now, including 30 miles of Centurion's WW50 and I have a few observations about the SG5. It seems to fit a bit wider than other SGs. I went for my usual regular fit size10. (I'm a 9.5 but have always gone up 0.5 for the SG). I definitely get more lateral movement than I did in the other SGs and getting the mid foot locked down seems trickier/fussier. The tongue on the SG5 seems shorter and you have to be careful that the laces don't slip behind when doing them up, especially if using a runner's knot. Mid sole feels the same to me as other versions but I have slipped in the SG5 a couple of times, even though the outsole in identical to the 4s as far as I can see. I can play around with the midfoot lock down but that short (and thin) tongue is pretty annoying if I'm honest.

It's not a narrow shoe but you might struggle with 2E because it only comes in a standard D fit option 👍
