Can‘t wait for my pair which will arrive tomorrow. Thank you for the good and helpful review. Looks like the perfect shoe for my typical running routes which include pavement, gravel roads and light trails.

How exciting that you can witness a GTWS trail race in Norway! Thanks for bringing this low-priced shoe to our attention. In your shoe reviews it would be helpful to mention comparable shoes in the end… like in this case the Nike Pegasus Trail or some of the Craft or Innov-8 door-to-trail options.

It was a great trip and an awesome race, race video coming soon! When we film our full reviews we do mention comparisons shoes 👍

Could these be the ideal shoe for the coast path in summer? Depending on the fit of course! Loved where you tested the shoes, what a fab place

Thanks for the review Loyd. Have tested them and didn't really like the lacing system. Maybe I'm used to quick lace, but didn't really like the way they lace around foot. Would like to see a review for asics fujilite 5 or fujispeed 3. Thanks mate!

certainly another great looking Salomon trail shoe. but i might wait it out til the Sense Ride 6 arrives. or shall i not hold my breath for that one?
@TolunayOrkunАй бұрын
They are calling these as Gravel shoe but a number of shoes already was doing this. Standard Pegasus fits this category. TR versions of road shoes such as Novablast TR or Saucony Ride TR etc. is playing in this category. If you want a bit more lugs, Pegasus Trail would do.

I’m absolutely loving the Asics Superblast 2; greatest shoe of all time imo. Hope you can get a pair to try sometime Loyd. You may not run in any other shoe on the roads again.

I sold mine, honestly didn't see what all the hype was about? I replaced mine with the Adidas Prime X2 Strung and find them a much better, more comfortable trainer to run long distances in.
@Jarrod7233 ай бұрын
@@paulmulks yeah I have learned from Doctors of Running and have come to appreciate that everyone has different reactions to midsoles. What one considers soft, another may consider firm; soft may work for one but firm for another; it’s all so unique. Glad you found something that works for you; the Superblast is the only high stack plateless trainer that works for me, so far.

@Jarrod723 Yeah that's it mate, running is very subjective. I want to try the Glideride Max next as that's supposed to be a nice cushioned experience 👌🏻

I loved the original ultraglides but not the 2s... Would love to find another salomon shoe to get me back on board.. How do these compare to say the ultraglide 1? These appeal to me for my daily miles where I only use road to get to light trails, forestry/access roads.

I'm looking at these for use on mixed terrain and canal towpaths but also for country lanes in winter - how do you think they will handle wet country lanes?
@Run4Adventure3 ай бұрын
It really depends how muddy the country lanes get that you run? I’d say, if there’s a lot of mud where you run the DRX DEFY doesn’t have a deep enough lug to handle it. Hope this helps and thanks for watching 🙏🙂

Love Norway its such a beautiful country 🤩 maybe a Salomon shoe that isn't narrow and firm? I'm sticking to my NB Venym, useable for almost everything and a brilliant shoe

It sure is a beautiful country! 😍 Glad you’re enjoying your New Balance shoes 👍

1. Glad to see you stopped the AG1 ads. Their products are an under dosed marketing scam 2. I wonder how these compare to Craft shoes that play in this any surface space
@Run4Adventure4 ай бұрын
I haven’t stopped them Jason and I’m still using the product everyday, it seems to work well for me. I think the biggest difference between the Salomon shoe and Craft would be the weight. With the DRX DEFY weighing in at only 266g in a UK10, it’s a pretty light running shoe. The Craft shoes tend to be a bit heavier 👍

Is the fit similar with the sense ride 5? Thanks.

I ran a 22k trail race in the Genesis and found the foam absolutely awful, I would say harsh, unresponsive in either cushion or response, it was just there, and toward the end of the race my feet and legs felt beat up. If the foam in this shoe is similar it wouldn’t be an enjoyable experience
@Run4Adventure4 ай бұрын
I wasn’t a fan of the Genesis either, it felt under cushioned and a bit flat to me! The DRX DEFY feels more cushioned and it offered better underfoot protection 👍
@MichaelDuldig4 ай бұрын
Totally agree Loyd, I wish Salomon would develop some better PEBA foams

In Salomon you size up 1/2 size compared to asics, saucony, etc??
@Run4Adventure4 ай бұрын
I do go up half a size in Salomon shoes compared to Saucony and asics 👍

I wish shoe companies would stop with the rock/mud hoarding gaps on the bottom!

It’s meant to reduce weight… and makes sense for a shoe designed for hard-packed easy trails. Inspired by road shoes… Shoes are like tools… they are designed for specific needs.
@Run4Adventure4 ай бұрын
I’ve got to be honest, I’m not a fan of it either but it does save on overall weight and I didn’t have any issues with it on the DRX DEFY GRVL 👍
